[SPOILERS] Small Wunders and Izzy of Inca: The fat lady sings

That game was a lot of fun once I gave up on winning/surviving. There's something satisfying about a 140 knight stack.

Threaten to raze every capital left in the game but never move any troops beyond your borders?

Oxy, I've got 65 Cavs, only 75 more and I'm coming for your record!

GG team bacon. I'm kind of jealous of people who are free from this game now. lol Did anyone call that nine players would be eliminated and Azza would still be in the game? I doubt it.

There is a pretty good case against using high variance strategies in large Pitboss game. Not only are you stuck lying in the bed you make if you fail, but you may be stuck there committing a part of your day for a long long long long long time. There are marriages that don't last as long as these games.

qotm 3.0??

hopefully there are no marriages that dont last *because* of these games!

also, Azza should win some kind of prize. like a porcupime head to mount above his desk or something!

On a role with the QotM.

Also, we should institute an azza score: How sum total of how many places under azza you place due to elimination divided by the amount of games played with him.

Oh please no more QotM! Give someone else a chance. lol If all my best material is there nobody will bother to read my threads.

Logged in to this:

I'm not sure what Big Mac is trying to tell me. I was wondering about accepting this for the lols, but it might not even be legal under a "cheese gifting" clause. My best guess is he wants me to attack Plako with horses in 4 turns. If this appears with a "3" next turn, that's what it is I guess.

Some people hate coded messages and timers in AI diplo, but up to me it's just fun, and we keep it until someone uses it to break the game. (I suspect one way this could happen is if enough people actually adopted a convention that duplicate food for duplicate food means "NAP", and started treating it with the same sanctity that they do in full diplo games.)

Mackoti has declared! I'm feeling cautious optimism that this is the beginning of the concession of this game.

I get much amusement from the flocks of Paparazzi units rushing in toward wars. But this war appears to be real! There are about 6 destroyers and 6 transports I see, and a couple of the destroyers are wounded. This island of Plako's is quite a logical war target. It's surely quite valuable to him and also will be impossible to reinforce without sea control. Plako still lacks both Combustion and Assembly Line.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if Mackoti has boats on the other side cutting off Plako's reinforcement lines. Or similarly, if he's going to strike Plako's other islands at the same time.

The area suggested in the diplo offer:

Plako has moved units away from this front. There's not much in Demolished Man at all!

I'm thinking a move here doesn't really make sense. It could open me up to a counterattack from 2metraninja. But even aside from that, it would feel a little cheesy since it wouldn't really be for my own civ's gain. And I have nothing against Plako in this game. The strike earlier while Bacchus was being eliminated was quite a clear strategic objective but this, not so much. I think I'd prefer to just let Plako and Mack go mano-a-mano.

I am grateful to Mackoti for the stone deal earlier exactly when we needed it, to rush castles during Ichabod's war. But I've also been gifting him spice for like 100 turns, I don't think I owe more than that. lol

I switched research to the Constitution -> Corporation path. Railroad is extremely expensive and if Plako is occupied I really don't need it that badly right now. Rails would be 8 turns at break-even, Constitution is due in 2, Corporation should be similar, and will help commerce a lot with both the trade route and increased known-tech bonus.

Lurkers know far more about this game than I do, but Mack and Plako are locked into 10 turns of peace now, sigh. At any rate, Plako is tied up on that side, and I put the chances of an attack from him on me at essentially zero now. This probably means many turns of SimCity micro for me, which is fine... Short turns, not much stress, especially since I don't give much of a crap about doing something sub-optimal.

I could probably even run a few turns in Rep / Caste / Pacifism, get a few great people, if I cared enough to plan that out. lol One "advantage" I have is that my GP game has been so lacking that my counter is still relatively low.

What gov civic are you running, HR?

The current QotM is from this thread? I actually laughed out loud at it.

These ones are also good. lol

I still haven't read your thread, because my burns are not yet recovered. The last updates are all very good.

I hope I haven't made your life that much miserable with all my smoke plays. You'd probably be sitting on Musashi's corpse if 2metra hadn't replaced me.

Good luck with the rest of the game.
