Commodore Wrote: In weird news, Mackoti is on the move with his own battleships, steaming...somewhere? Heck man, I dunno. sure looks like mack wants to bail out dtay. (doubtless while making a bit of profit!) what i'm surprised about is the victory screen with mackoti's name NOWHERE except high score. land, pop, culture are all held by others. culture, in particular is a surprise. Jetboy has that much culture already after a mid-game capt- oh, the artist bomb. still, expected a stronger showing from mack on that victory screen. Please note the 8-stack of transports in that battleship stack. (June 4th, 2014, 10:56)Krill Wrote: You can load them onyo Mobile Arty/Subs. With a 16 (or was it 12) tile range I think it's adequate to stage them from home cities, you wouldn't want to be (or practically able to excepting commandos) operating that far from your core. I guess naval war would be different, and it sure as hell makes defending anything near a coast/border nigh impossible.
Does anyone know how many religions Mackoti has access to? The last picture he posted of his empire here suggests only 4 (he also had Confucianism in his capital), but maybe he conquered some other religion somewhere else, or maybe in the cities he bullied from scooter:
Eiffel tower by itself doesn't really scream cultural victory to me. I normally think of a late game cultural attempt as being about cash-rushing cathedrals and then cranking out 1000+ culture/turn per city. Broadcast towers are only 175 hammers a pop in his legendaries, so that wonder realistically only cuts a turn, maybe two, off a cultural victory attempt if you're able to build it in a non-legendary city. He'd probably also want to switch from SP to FS, which will clobber his production, and I think he only had lots of towns around his capital... I dunno, cultural doesn't seem feasible at this point unless he can get 6 or 7 cathedrals per city.
It's feasible as long as no one can conquer him and as long as no one else triggers a victory condition first. Everyone is a long way from space and domination. Mack has a lot of time to try a CV, I think the main trouble will be playing defense if all of the other players with a shot to win pile in on him to stop the CV attempt. But he can build a whole lot of units before then.

Actually, he may be trying to sell them to dtay? Or maybe he's attacking Commodore. I honestly can't tell, but my borders are much better defended now that I've had a golden age to build a bunch more machine guns. Edit: With Scooters admitted inattention, seems like Commodore is correct on the direction... hopefully Mack will fill us in! |
