However, with their C&D online, and a galley coming in soon, I think kathlete will figure out what's going on, and hit with 4 HAs on T81. I can't see how they'd risk letting Byz escape, and without any more archers coming in for kathlete, that should be sufficient.
And Team Spullla has an absurd population lead: 16 to 11 (whosit, not a teching threat) and then everyone but Byz at 7 or 8?!?!? With an Academy online pre-1000BC? They're going to make Krill's early runaway as the Incas in RBP1 look like nothing. At least it IS possible to dogpile someone on this map pre-Railroads, maybe around the Medieval era?

Yeah, but by the time everyone else is Medieval era, Spulla will be fileding musketmen and approaching rifles I think it would be much easier for the other teams to take out Spulla if it wasn't for no tech trading, but with no tech trading Spulla threaten to run away with techs.

This is one of the reasons No Tech Trading is an iffy option. It doesn't exactly lead to better balanced gameplay, does it? There isn't a way for any alliance to really want to work together, except to kill Spulla, and that is too big a problem to overcome IMO.
I would like to point out that RPBP1 and 2 aren't really comparable from a growth perspective; the starts are much better on this map, and the techs are the same cost, combined with no tech trading...it's much better to compare starts on this map to each other.

I think it puts the emphasis more on pure Civ skills than diplomacy, which isn't necessarily better or worse, it is just different.

'no tech trading' makes the game much closer to 'always war'. There are very little incentives to play nice. But if you are looking for a game when diplo isn't that important (ie you can get away without doing much), then a game with that option enabled is a good start.
I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

I don't know, but tell him to pass it around. With the game on pause, funny diplomacy is our only entertainment!

Espicially considering that Spulla have settled their cities quite close together. I'd say they might have done the least aggresive settling, it's just they have the most cities so it appears like a lot.

wow. Well we knew diplomacy wasn't his strong but that's worse than I was expecting. Wouldn't it be a smarter approach to act friendly before hitting your stronger neighbour so as to catch him off guard rather than dropping as many hints as possible that you're going to attack them without actually saying it?
