Good luck. dtay has 11 cities and roughly double our pop according to F8. We have 9 cities with a grand total of 19 pop in them.
Yes, our average city size on T81 is 2.1. Luckily, even if dtay is top crop yield, that means he has roughly 40 crop yield just from the extra pop which would explain the top number of roughly 46 food higher than us. So he isn't growing faster than us, the question is then one of a happy cap, and research rate. He has the ivory hooked, which we will get soon, so really he doesn't seem to have a much higher cap except for religion. He also lacks Currency and Alphabet for OB, so he shouldn't have more free commerce than we do. That means, IMO, that right now unless he has even more land to expand to than us, and a bunch of easily accessible happy, we have an opportunity to get ahead of him at some point in the next 50 turns. Just need to get Mids, then expand to every available city site whilst limping to Currency and hope we don't need HA in the mean time.
