Turn 113
The event log this turn is not as favorable. Bleh, more judaism We'll be sure to eliminate the trade routes that I've given Fintourist in 6 turns, when they are able to. I did it for free crabs (which mean nothing), but mostly because I wanted to be nice and let his galley not be stuck between the culture of two of my cities. Certainly want to be friendly with Team Badass, because they have shown they can reciprocate kind gestures. But having Civil Service shows they need free commerce about as much as I need more pink dotters for neighbors. Somebody out there has 11 stables. I would hate to be their neighbor. That's an amazing reward though, with +1 food to each stable or free promotions for your mounted units. My quest has a lesser reward, but as I mentioned before, 11 libraries is it's own reward. Maybe Civ should have taken after the stables quest and given +1 beaker to each of the 11 libraries... Speaking of which, how are we doing? 7 have completed, 2 more will finish at the end of this turn. I've marked the last two needed to hit 11, and they will finish at the end of next turn! I mistakenly circled Rhi'anon instead of Llancarfan - Rhi'anon will be able to whip it's library in 2 turns' time. Tandem just needs a chop to finish. And Llancarfan will hit 40/90 at the end of this turn, letting us 2-pop whip it next turn. And yeah, decided on Metal Casting in 2 was the better plan. I have lots of builds finishing in 2 turns so it'll be a natural spot to put in cheap forges. Anything people have questions about or want to see?

Turn 115
Guess which tech I just finished? My crop yield has been growing - I think that may take a step back next turn. Although I will probably let my production cities build it naturally... kind of backwards in a way: whip the forges for fast completion in cities with low hammer output, slowly build them in cities with mines that have the hammer output. I also had another big event: Now here's the puzzle. Do I take the +2 beaker for my one capital library. Or do I take the ancient era tech. If I could guarantee I get Monotheism, I was debating it. Mono was worth 207 beakers on this map, and the +2 beakers in a library and dedicated towards a tech that gives 20% pre-req discount, that would net me +3 "real" beakers a turn. So I'd break even in less than 69 turns. Not exactly earth-shattering. Sadly my screenshots did not take of me making the choice, otherwise you'd see me learning that the Ancient era tech you get from the question reward is random. Thank goodness it tells you it's a random tech; that would have been painful to find out the hard way. That left me with a 50/50 chance between Meditation and Monotheism. No thanks, I'll take the +2 beakers in the capital. But the game surely wouldn't find some other way to screw me on this quest reward, would it? I mean, there's no possible way that it would put the +2 beakers in the last city to build a library, and not the first? Right?

So i was kind of having fun with it, but I think what happens is that the quest reward gives the +2 beakers to the oldest city in the game file with a library. And I'm guessing that Barry won that coin flip at the start of the game, or maybe he logged in and played before I did on the first turn? Either way, I get the +2 beakers in a city other than the one I'll be building Oxford in...

I always thought I got that in the first city when I did it. If not... Wow, what a crappy design.

Who's it gonna be? Not sure on the next tech, it depends on what I get at the end of turn.
