Major news of the turn was Thoth taking two cities off dtay for the first time in a while. I'm guessing this means Thoth will end up with Game and Watch. One of the cities Thoth captured was Samus, which I believe to be here:

Dtay is down to 6 cities now. At least in his favor those include the Pyramids city, the GLH city and his capital. He's done about as well as one can given the nature of his situation, so kudos to him. thumbsup

As has been the case every time we've shared borders, Commodore is annoying me already. He's got a galley poking around Lyonesse and that fort he's building south of TryhardRomanNameFarWest can only be intended to threaten me eventually. Now, he's guarding both of his border cities with me a single Knight and it wouldn't take much creativity to burn them both, particularly after I lost TR with him after he went Mercantilism. Mercantilism is a thing you can do when the mapmaker gives you access to one-tile islands with tons of seafood but when the only islands you can reach are shitty literal iceballs, foreign trade routes are pretty necessary. BUT NOVICE'S TOOL SAID IT WAS BALANCED. [Image: kappa.png]

A momentous occasion - on t142 we finally got our capital's Xenu improved. It goes without saying that the denizens of Valhalla would celebrate WLTKD in honor of this achievement.

That's pretty much all the news fit to print. 3t to Engineering.

If a Commodore is a plains cow, and a Xenu is a plains wine, what is a Krill, a Plako, and a Sevenspirits?

Well, if I want to keep trolling, I'd say that those three don't get names because they're good mapmakers and so they don't have the same level of repetitive tiles. [Image: kappa.png]

But for funsies, lets see, I've played BTS maps made by the following players:

Ruff_Hi
Krill
Plako
Bobchillingworth
Plako
Commodore
Plako
Commodore
Serdoa
Spacetyrantxenu

If forced to identify a tile with each:

Ruff - forested food tile - let's say Forested Grass Wheat to keep it to one. banghead
Krill - Honestly, I prefer to imagine I didn't really play in PB4 but when I do think of it all of my thoughts are rage at Sullla or Parkin. The only thing I remember from the map beyond that terrible foodless city because Nakor hated overlap was double deer at the cap. So let's call a Krill Plains Hill Deer.
Plako - Plains Hill Sheep - represented in both Sheepland from PBEM14 and at my capital in 38.
Bob - Obviously an empty coastal tile with a Barbarian submarine. [Image: kappa.png]
Commodore - Plains Cow, as discussed many times before.
Serdoa - Two Tile Lake.
Xenu - Plains Wine

If someone else wants to nominate tiles for other mapmakers, feel free. thumbsup

I have longer post coming up on analyzing the game to this point, but I wanted to open a question to the lurkers.

Basically, to remain relevant in this game I have three options for the immediate future:

1. Build-up a sizable military force and try to take out a chunk of Oxy.
2. Build-up a sizable military force and try to take dtay's land off Commodore.
3. Make a hard play for the Taj Mahal.

Obviously I've been planning on #1 but there are considerations for 2 & 3. 3 needs little introduction - the Taj/MoM combo is disgusting and 90% of the time it is achieved that player is the winner. But there are downsides - particularly, I'd need to fire a GA to complete Taj and that means both it and the free Taj GA would be experienced at my mediocre empire size. While that's still a lot better than what everyone else is getting, its not so much better than, say, TBS' huge empire's GAs as to be a game-winner. 2 seems far-fetched but I do think he's gassed a bit from fighting dtay and Commodore ultimately is the absolute most annoying player in the history of the world to have as a neighbor. He just pokes and pokes and pokes at you until you snap and punch him in the face. This would basically be preempting that by punching him in the face first. 1 is the most obvious choice - Oxy's built no military and his land is pretty easily subsumed into my culture. Of course, with success it means more borders with TBS, so there's a downside there.

I'd love to hear others opinions on the subject.

As an impartial acolyte of the Blood God, I can support options 1 and 2 without hesitation. I can also support option 3 as long as the fruits of the golden age involve smashing someone's head in, too. In other words, I'm absolutely no help (as a good lurker should be!)

Absolutely no help WHILE ADVOCATING FOR MAXIMUM BLOODSHED. The last point is important.

Also you should do options 1 and 2 simultaneously.

Yes, I do believe smashing someone's head in is the point of Civ. wink
