It turns out that dtay, and OldTourist are the only players with Education. Pindicator, Dazed, Germanjoey and TBS have Paper, so we are getting a total multiplier of 1.56 on paper research. Education will only give us a 1.32 multiplier, unless people research that in the next 3 turns...

novice, I also checked, if we build wealth in all cities excluding Ec, RC, FP and WA, we could theoretically revolt into FM on the last turn of the golden age. We make 1101 base bpt. Save gold this turn means we have about 45% of Paper done, and 1K gold saved, could run max research for 5 turns, getting enough to finish Paper eot T149, Education eot T151 and Economics eot T153, revolt T154.

Well I think we want the second GA immediately after the first one either way, but I did leave your wealth builds in place. The only exception is I let Marsh Pit continue its lighthouse build.

novice, I'm starting to micro cities to stgnate for the next few turns, or to grow one pop size more and then stagnate to ensure we get a 4 turns Education and Economics timeframe. I've taken into account the extra beakers from the Palace jump, but our costs are increasing due to new cities and Plano coming out of revolt, so I've had to work around that. We need to average -200gpt over the next 5 turns. We may be able to run 90% on the last turn but it's not a given. Right now, we are slightly over at -215-ish gpt, but next turn Ec can build wealth which should put us on track.

I don't think we want an immediate second GA, ie with no break between them, but waiting 5 or so turns between the GA seems reasonable, to allow cities to grow again.

novice, I've been thinking abotu what we need to do with Ruff. BGN is chewing through players on that continent so we need to get a move on. I think we have to go Astro after Economics. We can capture Lynn, Newton and Marblehead on the first turn of a war using 3 galleons apiece. We can also dump a stack one tile west of Boston, his capital, on the first turn of a war; we can't capture it from the FoW without 5 move Galleons.

The only other important city is Cambridge, if we get that, then the rest is clean up and using a artist bomb to create defensible borders.

We can capture Cambridge on the second turn of the war by sending a fastmover stack on Galleons through Plako's territory, north of the island, and capturing the city Ruff took from Q, unloading, and running into his territory. Turn 2 of the war we'd take the critical cities of Boston and Cambridge then have to figure out how to claim the rest of the land safely.

I think that the best choices for this are something along the line of CR2 maces/Muskets from boats for the easy 3 cities, knights to the north, and a stack of 12 units (3 trebs?) plus a reloaded 3 galleons from teh Marblehead Raid to back up the Boston attack.

I imagine the total numbers for an attack would be something like 12 Maces, 12 Muskets, 21 knights, 3 Trebs, plus an assorted 12 units for the last galleon in each of the Lynn/Marblehead/Newton/Boston strike forces, on a total of 20 Galleons.

That's a total cost of about 5000 new hammers...eek.

novice just checked, Economics is on course to complete on the 7th turn of hte GA, eot T153. Two other people have Education, dtay and FinHarry. It looks like we're starting to put ourselves in the 1.5th tier of this game. Unfortunately dtay finishes RP this turn, due to overflow from Aesthertics>Lit. He is less than 10K adjusted beakers from Rifles.

If he researches further in that direction, it would actually mean that we couldn't attack Ruff and instead had to focus on wrecking his game, because the only way we could effectively deal with him would involve building up such a stupidly large army. He would have to do the same but keep it on defence on two separate fronts.
