ISDG 2012 flame war

In certain "ethnic" neighborhoods, the term "care bear" is incitement for the locals to engage in a complex musical number.

"Care bare" is something entirely different.

It was a reference to Friendship!, not being afraid to enter low-sec space or whatever. We need hugs, not noob ganking at jump gates. Or whatever is analogous in PvP for the MMO of your choice.

I have no comment about whatever Bob is talking about and am honestly afraid to ask. lol

Played: Pitboss 18 - Kublai Khan of Germany Somalia | Pitboss 11 - De Gaulle of Byzantium | Pitboss 8 - Churchill of Portugal | PB7 - Mao of Native America | PBEM29 Greens - Mao of Babylon

But please, enough with the lecturing, gloating and presumptuous attempts to make us confess our sins from a game we all left behind long ago.

I don't think you're a bad guy. I definitely respect you more than when you first started posting here. But you've made your point several times now, and it's time to move on.

His point is simple, don't talk shit behind peoples' backs and then get surprised when they call you out on it when they find out later. The same could be said for the attitude that's still prevalent in lurker threads here. Don't talk shit if you're not willing to say it to someone's face. It really IS rude and cowardly, fucking terrible, really.

You do realize that we realize that the threads would be opened later and thus what we posted would be available for all to see? If we were embarrassed by that then we wouldn't be making those posts.

And this is even funnier coming from the guy who explicitly demanded that I not post in his thread. lol

and yet, when people do read these posts about them (new to them), the original posters hide behind the veil of time, now responding that oh, it's all in the past, what are you making a big deal over?

and regarding you, yes, what is your point? after I kicked you out, tired of your trolling, I noticed that "Last Post: NobleHelium" showed up in the lurker thread, and I'm sure you had nothing but kind words to say about me. rolf

I just found it amusing that "care bear" is apparently some sort of dire MMORPG slur lol

I'm not talking about the demogame at all because I have a lot of issues with pretty much every part of the game from the setup to the conclusion both as it relates to RBs behavior and as it relates to the behavior of others towards RB but I really have zero interest in dredging up years old issues that I had nothing more than tangential involvement in.

But with regards to games on this site in general - it is a competition - people are going to mock opponents. It happens in real life as often as the internet, probably even more often in real life, truth be told. The only difference here is that we are one of the few sites that catalogs games as they happen and then allows said opponents to read those threads after the fact. I surely wouldn't have wanted the stuff that fell out of my mouth in pickup basketball games as an adolescent recorded for posterity, for example. If you're the type of person who is going to get offended by a bit of mocking, don't read said threads. I haven't read opponent threads for any of my games in several years and I'm none the worse off for it.

Maybe mocking your opponents is puerile by its something that most people do in any competition. Maybe we should hold ourselves to a higher standard but I can think of about 10 more important things we could worry about on that score.

In regards to glossing over hurt feelings in the postgame the most common defense isn't veil of time, it is actually that things were said in the heat of the moment that don't reflect a person's more considered feelings. Is there anyone out there who can't relate to that?

And @Joey specifically - I really don't know that you're the guy to bring this all up given the sheer volume of hostility and invective you've spewed? Something about glass houses, perhaps.
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?

My point is that you told me not to post in your thread and now you're complaining when people post in the lurker thread? Do you think you should have control over everyone's ability to post things?

I don't care if it's the past or not. I clearly don't like 2metra any more than I liked him two years ago. When you come in here and go out of your way troll us at the start of the game, I'm not going to like you.
