I'm not quite sure how to play this out, but I know that if BGN does anything I'm going to go and meltdown his coast and everything I can touch.

So we have to wait for Fintourist to finish playing before we get to make any moves, but what it looks like we are going to do is to war dec BGN and try to raze one of his shitty Q cities. It has a cossack in it though, and because of the way I've loaded the galleons it would delay any potential attack on Cambridge. I will offer peace though, but I believe that I will offer peace with reparations.

If we don't attack the former Q city, it'll be with 1gpt from us. If we raze the city it'll be with something more substantial.

We will end up moving most of our units into Marblehead and Boston though.

What I'm considering now is how best to keep our units safe for the next turn, and if BGN declines peace how to extricate as many of them as possible form this situation and afterwards how to use them to screw him up in retaliation for pissing in my cheerios.

I decided against trying to raze Kings Canyon, the Q city that BGN held. I misremembered when working out the odds, what promotions his Cossack had and what rifles I had available. It turns out that C4 Cossacks win pretty much everything until you can get Amphib Inf out.

That said, I'm still hoping that BGN takes the deal, of peace for 1gpt. I'm going to risk this turn and play it out as if he accepts it, except at Boston where I'm going to cram all the units to hold the city. That means dumping the cannons outside Newton, and moving all the units to threaten Cambridge (might be able to capture it next turn, depends what BGN does). I have taken Lynn, it's down to 2 pop but has lighthouse, granary and market left.

The risk is that if BGN attacks then we are going to lose up to 20 units, but a good chunk of them will be muskets which I'm not that concerned about losing. if he accepts the peace then we'll be able to get the border we want and get it defended properly by the time the peace treaty ends.

So, we lost 41gpt from nuking trade routes. We lost 12 IIRC, which is annoying but that's the cost of business.

BGN is in a golden age.

Also note that Cambridge is at 60% culture defense, I thought it was at 80. Cambridge has a pike, axe, warrior, archer and 0.5 health GG knight which will not heal this turn. We could take that with the knights that I have in range.

I could have killed a galleon and a sentry chariot from BGN. I didn't. I gave them honour guards instead.

The war declaration has reminded me of one of hte game mechanics I loathe. Stupid Brothers and Sisters unhappiness.

16 Cossacks visible. I've played as if there are not more than one or two stragglers in the area; if there is a second stack we are probably screwed

In Boston I have 6 rifles and 28 muskets. I have a further 16 cannon behind Boston which can attack and units that attack Boston and live. In short, attacking Boston is a dumb idea this turn.

Cambridge is held by almost nothing. I have positioned 10 knights to attack the city next turn. If the city is reinforced, then we can move the stack adjacent to the city. OTOH, there are enough units here to soak up all of the attacks by the Cossacks and die a painful death, but I'm not concerned if we lose those units: the knights are worthless against BGN. If BGN accepts or reoffers peace then we are good to go with the attack. The musket on the hill is defending a sentry chariot; I value the sentry chariot as much as a knight because that's what I'd have to build to get another sentry unit. Lynn is held by 4 rifles. They'll die to the cossacks if BGN wants to attack Lynn.

Ruff has only injured knights. This city will die quickly to whatever we throw at it if the Cossacks fuck off.

I dumped off the cannon and one musket to make it more reliable to take the city if we're left alone. Now because of hte number of cossacks, I do not believe that BGN can kill both of our stacks, and I have enough galleons in position to retreat either of the stacks if BGN doesn't accept peace. Two cannon should wreck the top defenders so everything else is clear; both cannon can promote to CR2.

If the archer remains as the only defender, then the two rifles on the galleon should be enough to take the city. C2 rifle has 96% odds to win off a boat.

BGN is up Lib, Communism (don't care), Democracy (don't care either but he can rush buy with Kremlin), Music, Mil trad and Sci Method. So basically he can build Cossacks, is researching faster than us and will get to Bio and shit before us. But he doesn't really have much of a lead at present in stuff that actually matters.

If we end up fighting BGN it's only to make him lose. We're not winning that fight in any shape or form, but we can make him deal with so many units that he opens himself up to OT, or can't intervene whilst they take advantage of his attention being else where.
