[Spoilers PB23] Old Harry's attempt at civilizing AdrienIer

Surprisingly Agent didn't accept the offer wink

He landed a small stack on the island (there are 2 galleys on the fish) so I decided to retreat. The third galley is on the clam to make sure the two Zulu galleys don't follow me, I'll have some troops to move around and I don't want to have to take them into account. Sacrificed for the greater good.

This is so beautiful, next turn monarchy is done so really all my happiness problem are going to go away.

Golden age : I'm lovin' it.

Oh and not on screenshots : a settling party is heading for the silver spot, I've decided that silver is too important in itself so I'm settling just west of it.

Slight change of plan, I think I can 2t feudalism after archery so new tech plan is archery (0%) -> Feudalism (2t 100%) -> HBR (1t I hope) -> Machinery -> Guilds. I'll have the first three at the end of the GA. This means that I'm not revolting to HR this turn, I'm waiting for Vassalage. Bureaucracy is just not that awesome here with a mediocre capital, and I'll use the XP wisely, ie to get amphibious on praets to make Old Harry happy.

In my PB22 thread, I posted a formula you could use to calculate how much income you're losing due to not having Bureau... I'll repost it here since you can't see it there:

Quote:CC*BB*(1 + GM*(1-BE) + SM*BE) - (VS)*I = effective commerce cost of Vassalage instead of Bureaucracy

CC = Capital's Commerce
BB = Bureaucracy Commerce Bonus = 0.5
GM = Gold Multiplier in Capital (e.g. 0.25 for a market, 0.50 for market+grocer)
SM = Science Multiplier in Capital (e.g. 0.25 for a library, 0.75 for library + academy, etc)
BE = Break-Even Slider %
CPU = Cost Per Unit (0.7gpt per unit on Monarch Difficulty)
VS = Vassalage Savings = (Bureau Upkeep - Vassalage Upkeep) + Number of Vassalage Free Units times Cost Per Unit
I = Inflation % (e.g. 1.13 for 13% Inflation)

Just plug in the numbers! You're probably right that Bureau isn't all that great for you. You might want to check for with-GA and without-GA numbers too...

Nice, but don't forget the hammer bonus too.

Oh, of course, and also don't forget that Vassalage gives +2 XP per unit built. It's just a handy way to look at how much that stuff costs ya.

First I forgot to show you this screenshot.

I took the ancient era tech which turned out to be polytheism. I was aiming for HBR.

Now as to the numbers, on a non-golden age I have
CC = 34
BB = 0.5
GM = 0.25
SM = 0.25
BE = 0.4 (it's 0.5 in the GA, it should be between 0.3 and 0.4 normally)
CPU = 0.7
VS = 4+13*0.7
I = 1.12

Good thing is breakeven doesn't matter here thanks to GM and SM being the same. And the result is : 6.5. Wow. So overwhelming.
Hammer difference is 5, compensated by the +2XP all over the land. I think this is the right choice.

I logged in after Agent to do this, but it was worth it. I sent him a PM about it (didn't notice he had played, at first) I hope he doesn't mind. He had sent a ceasefire offer which I almost sent back but I need to pass through his land with my galleys.

Edit : Ninja'ed...
