IMO you need to have some way to ensure a peaceful border else the player sitting between 2 others is always totally f*****.
This. If there is no method of enforcing peace then there is no way to actually make plays without putting yourself at risk of getting gutted on a different front. Down this road lies Cold Wars and Farmers Gambits, and it's a hell of a lot less fun than what we have now.
That's not me saying the way it is currently implemented (i.e. no changes from base BtS) is perfect. I don't think it is. But I haven't seen any ideas for a better way to design it.

Commodore declared - Did some irrelevant dirty deeds - offered peace
Plako didn't accept peace - Did some irrelevant dirty deeds - offered peace

Well I've no longer remembered to offer peace in every round and same is true also for Commodore. I even thought I had a chance to hit something and upgraded Knights to Cavs worth of 2000g, but those AGR/PRO Muskets are just too strong to do anything worthwhile even with this tech disparity and he has massive amounts of cats lying around (over 70).
Earlier as expected Commodore gave dtay a free pass to stop 2Metra i.e. gave him 10T NAP. No idea why he thinks that is a good idea when dtay was already fighting 2Metra. Now dtay has more power than 2Metra and they'll probably soon sign up peace (or have already, I haven't checked in couple of turns) and guess what: those troops have a pretty good chance of capturing Commodore's very soft belly in the south when they free up from 2Metra border.
Gavagai seems to be winning at the moment, but GermaJoey and Gawdzak are pretty strong too. Commodore might be able to help dtay to take a spot in that group also.
If I somehow manage to be competitve I've a some kind of winning plan. I landed sistine and I'll be also focusing on EP points so I could try Culture win + keeping me relevant in military techs with espionage, but I wouldn't hold my breath this working. Currently I'm not building any religious infra so this is a long way.
Also I've 3 Great Persons spared already for GA, but I'm waiting a decent moment to make a run towards Communism since I want State property at the end of it. I'll probably need Steel before launching GA to be safe from Commodore.

Why do you want State Property?

I've lots of workshops and not enough food to reach full potential of my cities. I'll be focusing on hammers. It is not that great concerning culture win, but I'm not actively pursuing it at the moment.

Nothing is going my way this game. Some bug is preventing me building Buddhist Stupa's (I've enough Temple's). This is probably related somehow to the fact that I was momentaily running Free Religion and now converting back to Theocracy. Makes pursuing culture win pretty much impossible .

and feeling stupid. i didn't check yet, but I probably had Stupa in queue of other city preventing it being built here.

Could some of you tell me why I don't have a trade routes to Jucha or any other Gavagai, Gawdzak or 2metraNinja city, but I do have them to all of dtay and Gernamjoey cities.

Maybe the trade routes you have are better. Joey's cities are the most distant from you, dtay's are maybe the largest.

I'm meaning that the symbol referring to the exitence of the trade route is missing. It also has negative effect concerning the cost of espionage missions. I'm not getting -20% I should. This makes espionage economy weaker (it is not that great even with OB discount).
