Blockades aren't absolutely necessary, but I don't think anyone's ever complained about the reduced range and they're usually banned in BTS.

I'd probably tinker slightly with the other traits to even them up too. There's still a big gap between say Cha and Exp. IMO, that's more important than Nukes anyway.

Here is the starting BFC sandbox for you to look at and start planning, if you choose to do so. This accurately represents what the starting BFC will look like when you load into the game.
The file has any strategic resources stripped out (since you would not know those on turn 0). All non-BFC tiles are water, even ones you can see at the start.

Obviously, the leader/civ is randomly assigned wink

And wow, what a start for Pro! eek 3 tiles that can get the early hammer bonus and just lots of hammers to go into your workers. If everyone has a similar start I think we could see a lot of Pro picks this game, which is unfortunate because I'm down the bottom of the snakepick order and someone might steal Qin.

The hammer access is good for Ind too clearly but only 5 forests is a minor mark against it.

Haram stole my eskimo. frown

I'm going to need to think about this a bit. EXP Inca looked strangely compelling last night, that might work.

Ok, stream of thought about traits incoming.

One of Ind or Pro is a given, I'm leaning towards Pro for the previously mentioned reasons(18hpt and 3fpt at size 5!).

What about the other traits?

Phi, Spi, Agr and Cha are all out straight away, on account of using them in my last games. I'm really surprised no-one has picked Agr yet though.

Imp - probably pretty good here with the hammer access. Reflected by 3/5 people picking IMP already. If I pull a mackoti that 18hpt goes to 27hpt into settlers!

Fin - I'm not really a fan. I think I've said before I can't see Fin being better than Agr anyway, and will half priced banks make that much of a difference? My start isn't particularly suited for Fin either, only 4 riverside grasslands at the capital. Other tiles will take forever to get the commerce bonus. Kind of curious that we've had 2 picks of it already. Either they have a slightly different start or they disagree with me.

EXP - I feel this start is pretty decent for EXP. You can gather together 30 early hammers pretty easily for that Granary. I think size 2 was possibly IIRC. However there are a lot of techs to go through to make the granary work for you; Agr, Fishing, Hunting for resources, Wheel and Pottery for the granary and then Mining +BW to convert the food back to hammers. So I might need Inca to make this work.

Organised - I'm not really feeling it tbh. We might end up with an early lighthouse for the fish, but that's only 1fpt. Cylindrical maintenance is on, which is what is really pushing me away. I think I'd prefer it to Fin but I'm thinking taking an early trait is important to go with Ind or Pro. Ind needs the early boost to compete for the wonders without falling behind and Pro wants a strong early game so as to get to Chemistry in a reasonable condition.

Cre - A bit more midgame than the other 4, it takes a bit longer for the Library bonus to kick in. Cre/Ind says ignore the religion wonders and go for the Mids ... I wouldn't mind that actually. But I don't like being pigeonholed into 1 strategy either. Cre/Pro, that probably has enough early game to be fair.

I think that's everything. One of Ind/Pro with one of Cre/Exp/Imp I guess. As a reward for people stealing our combos we get to pick for synergy in the snakepick so I'll have to look at the civs.
