The catapult is essential for doing some collateral damage to any incoming stack, so Speaker is always going to want to have some around to get better odds on any incoming attack stack.

I'd be a little bit more annoyed at not building an aquaduct there, and growing onto the lake tile, with the multipliers in that city...what is the point in the HA when you are so close to knights...

The only non weedy move I can think of, is that they put 1 turn into the Horse archer then switch to longbows, then when guilds comes in it will turn into a knight and they can complete it on the next turn.

I wonder about Whosit's motivation for ever placing the city of Alzoc III. It wasnt even that good of a city and seemed to serve only to needlessly provoke Korea. He might not have been attacked by Korea if it hadn't have been for that city.

I think he was underestimating how hard it is to push back mature cultural borders. His thought was he could aggressively settle there to give himself some breathing room, but really it didn't do much to change the shape of the border

Promoted spears should defend versus mounted units over unpromoted maces. Plus they soak up collateral, and you can manage their promos differently - Formation spears are great, while you may want to use the third mace promo differently.

Apparently, they are tagging along for garrison duty in the soon to be annexed Greek territory, as well as for ensuring the safety of the hordes of workers that will be perpetrating the great Greek Infrastructure Boom in accordance to the expected ambitious Indian 100-year Plan of 1000 AD.

The Incan war seems to have gone insanely badly for Athlete and Whosit. I was honestly predicting a fairly easy victory for them, so kudos to Slaze.

It has a lot of river grassland, and considering how he complained he had so few, it would have been a very good commerce city if he had manage to claim the hill for protection.
Unfortunatly, commerce only cities are not a combo with front line I guess (and also are relatively weak when they need to build lots of cultural things) smile

After giving Kathlete and Whosit a spanking, does anyone else think Slaze should just take peace and maybe sign long term NAPs? He badly needs to focus on economy and has a lot of land already, and could be in a really strong position with no concerns about his borders. That could also be the first steps of a unified CoW II forming, which I see as the only chance of Spullla not winning.

Of course, massive credit has to be given to Slaze, given that it wasn't that long ago that his land was considered something that Kathlete and Whosit were going to just draw a line through and grab.
