So vets can't contact each other in private, but rookies can. Vets will have always-war enabled, rookies won't, but rookies will still have no-tech-trading enabled. Right? To be honest I wouldn't mind just playin with the same rules as the vets, but I'm fine with whatever the majority wants.

Btw, I know I'm probably the wrong guy to say this, but we should all atleast try reporting about our gameplay regurarly in our threads. Comparing strategies was the whole point of the double-game afterall, not much to compare if your "partner" only writes a few sentences every 50 turns.

Call me crazy, but I've felt that if you're going to disallow Spies, you might as well turn Espionage off. Because, basically, all you're doing is fighting for demographics visibility (and maybe research visibility). Otherwise, looks good to me.

Banning private communication will make things more interesting, yes? I guess I won't have to worry about those "Hail! Well met!" messages. Wait, I wouldn't have to worry, anyway: Always War.

There is apparently a bug that cuts culture output in half if you disable espionage, or something. So dibs on Willem smile.

AFAIK its you need double the culture for border-pops and victory (the later makes sense as all spy-points are converted to culture too).

Basically, no espionage got completely broken because all espionage became culture. TBH, I'd rather it get turned into commerce, and everything got increased about 2% in cost, but this is what we get stuck with. No espionage isn't a viable game option.

As to the diplo, that was mainly for the AW game, for the NTT I feel that allowing diplomacy is fine, and that the difference it would create in the game is worth watching.

So here's what we are looking at:

Using Krill's suggestion as a template plus a couple of additions:

Map: Inland sea

Settings: Greens - NTT Vets: AW

Speed: Quick
Espionage: No spies
Huts/Events: off
Map Trading: off

Contacts: Greens: Diplomacy allowed once met in game. Same for map trading

Vets: no diplomacy between players (I think we trust each other to do this?) other than public player thread that everyone can post in once they have contact with everyone. Anyone can read public thread at any time.

Mods: No score mod

Now from what I read, All Vets bar Ruff and Ilios are OK with their settings

Greens: All have yet to agree to their settings
"You want to take my city of Troll%ng? Go ahead and try."

Those settings seem more than agreeable to me.

Should we also add the difficulty level, barbs, and how leaders/civs will be picked?
