IIRC they acknowledged that it had been gifted with 10 XP, and were going to address it by not building the HE until one of their self-built units got to 10. Which would fall under the general heading of abiding by the spirit of the rule while breaking the letter, IMO.

Quote:Novice, he gifted it to us, so to stay within the rules of the game, we won't be building HE before we get one of our own units to 10XP.
Rome gifted a 10XP praet to HRE, but this unit wasn't used to build the Heroic Epic. They waited until they had a 10XP unit of their own. It'll be a bit funny if this case of technically being against rules, but in good faith making sure they don't gain any advantage of it, gets a punishment, but Spullla's case of technically not being against rules, but in bad faith looking for loopholes and abusing them to gain advantage of what the rule was made to prevent, doesn't get punished.
I'm glad I don't have to deal with this anymore lol. The idea of the rule was to stop the HE building, which they followed.
Thought you'd noticed, Krill, didn't mean to put words in your mouth.

Later they obtained a 10xp axeman from barbs and started the HE: http://realmsbeyond.net/forums/showpost....tcount=873 The gifting was also mentioned in the lurker thread and noticed by Sullla, I can't be bothered to dig up the references, though. EDIT: A bit of a crosspost, but anyway...
I have to run.
MJW (ya that one) Wrote:You can DoW and kill the GM; unless you have signed an unbreakable treaty. That would be really silly to use a GM to spy like that. Well, the way Spullla used it they got some intel and Kathlete couldn't do anything about it due to the double move. But you're right, it can't be used as an invisible sentry the way a spy can.

MJW (ya that one) Wrote:I find double moving to be much worse then what Jowy did. Seriously? Getting a bit more from a GM plus some intel is worse than giving away all your cities? Seriously ? Firstly, there was never a serious question of there being a punishment for teh gifting as Nakor acted in an open and honest way and played it by the book in diffusing the situation. You have stated the problem with what Spullla did yourself, it is (unfortunately imo) not against the rules and thus cannot be punished. Punishing people retroactively is not really feasible. I would take a deep breath and relax Jowy, its not double standards or anything of the sort, its just a bit of a grey area.

A4l could do nothing about the GM unless he logined at the end of moves. There are many other reasons but this is the big one. MJW (ya that one) Wrote:Yes. I'm with darrell on this one. Walking a GM through someone's lands is not worse than cheese gifting cities. I mean really, we're talking 3+ cities against what, 200 gold extra? Are the two really comparable at all? |
