RBP2 Lurker Discussion Thread - No Players!

Man, what a slaughter of poor Dantski. Maybe HRE will be knocking on India's doorstep sooner rather than later with a very large and intact army of rifles and cannons, and Slaze will get an amazing break as Spullla is forced to concentrate their force over on that side?

Have Spulla mentioned any plans regarding moving on Slaze?

It would be suicide to march on slaze afterwards with Nakor's stack on the other flank.

Their best move is to keep Dantski alive (or at least his Statue of Zeus city) and try and cripple Nakor's cities with war weariness for as long as possible until they smash into each other.

slaze is so backward that they would not need much in the way of up-to-date defence to hold him back.

Nah, it would be very easy to hold on one flank and attack Slaze on the other. It is a slow mover stack, so Spullla only have to hold one city.

It won't be a 1-mover stack though in 10-15t - they have cavalry available to them now.

They have naff MFG, and you can't draft cav. It is a slow mover stack, with minimal fast mover support, attacking into the perfectly shaped defensive line. It doesn't work unless you have numbers, and numbers is not something you have against a civ three times your size, with soon to be naval superiority and a larger, albeit misplaced army, that can attack you on several flanks.

Namoc have already lost this game strategically, but they can have some fun beating the crap out of other teams for a bit. I don't think Spullla really care either, although I'd love to see Sulllas' face if they did somehow get invaded without seeing it coming, and losing a city.

I'm not saying that an attack would work - only that there could be 2 movers in it. wink

tbh - like most others - I cannot see how Spulla are going to lose this one but like you say - HRE could get a tidy strike if they are lucky.

It will be interesting to see who the next target is for spulla and HRE. Spulla could walk through slaze - but they will be able to do that anytime. Not just now - HRE will be harder to crack - will it be easier in the industrial age or modern will be the only question.

Despite their dislike of Nakor I think marching against slaze would be the right move. HRE with rifles, cannons and Cavs are a tough and costly nut to crack.
Giving slaze time to recover his economy and use his now very large empire to close the tech-gap could prove a bad thing. If he can regrowth his city you can bet that once India attack him later he will whip/draft them to the ground again and make India pay for every city.
Remains interesting to see what Korea is planning.

Christ, that's some rant Speaker posted. Someone he respects might want to send him a PM gently encouraging him to edit it before Athlete gets around to reading Spulla's thread. I get that he's real darn angry about unorthodox play in an mp civ game ("Gifting! The nerve!"), but his personal attacks are taking these boards to an ugly place, and must certainly violate the "Spirit of RB", if such a thing ever existed.

I agree - doesn't seem very sportsmanlike to me.

I also don't get Speaker's continued annoyance with Athlete's 'refusing to end the turn'. My understanding is that Athlete had a small window to play his half of the turn and wanted to keep that at the same time every day. Regardless, the rules and the clock allow Athlete to do this, every day for 6 months.

If Speaker doesn't like the rules, that's fine, but don't blame Athlete for following them.
