RBP2 Lurker Discussion Thread - No Players!

I don't think there's any pressing need for it to continue, the game is pretty clearly won, and I think all the players would acknowledge and agree to that. I think it'll end.

Only thing I will say in rebuttal is why didn't it end 100t ago wink

Because if every team then rebuilt and hit Spullla they might have died, and the extra turns were quite informative for lurkers.

As I said 4 month ago:
Rowain Wrote:You see thats the reson why I (and a lot of others) were convinced that the dogpile was the only chance for all non-India players to play a role in this game.
From a lurker POV this is a mixed blessing. On one hand we can expect a lot of informative, educational posts on the theme 'How to manage an empire' from you OTOH the remainig 200-250 turns will be very boring 'watch Sullla/Speaker stomp everyone into the ground (first ecomnomical and than military wise)'.
But great job on the defense thumbsup

The only mistake was the number of turns it took them to finish the job.

Basically what Krill said. At that point in the game, they still had solid rivals. If Athlete, slaze, Nakor, Dantski, and Plako all ganged up on India 100 turns ago, I don't think India makes it... Maybe I'm wrong. Now - Athlete is now gone, slaze is even further behind, Dantski is crippled, and Nakor is falling apart now... The scene is much different.

I still agree that at the time they were the heavy favorites to win, but now it's a lock.

Would it be out of line for someone to inform Nakor / DMOC that India would also be interested in just ending the game now? It seems kind of silly for them all to play on if they have a consensus to quit...

I'd certainly consider that grossly out of line. It's basically a lurker doing diplo messaging for them.

I am a bit surprised by the way Dantski/Sullla played the last turn : it seems Danstki play first, bombard and attack with cats, then Sulla kills most of the stack, then Dantski finish the stack (to gain the city and culture), then Spullla attack further away.

Wasn't it in the 'rules' than when at war and allied, you have to decide who is playing first (could possibly swap from turn to turn) to avoid this kind of unfair situation. (Or am I confusing with another game).

edit - it was indeed in this game ruleset.

Bah, the games all over bar the shouting, is it realy worth sturing up the hornits nest again for that - give them a warning saying dont do it again and let the game continue imho.

On the 'tactical' POV, it seems that HRE (and before them, Kathlete and Jowy) are not properly taking into account the risk of cultural controle when losing a city : ie having units walking almost naked in place that are hidden before the turn but which are completely vulnerable once a city falls.

Also trying to defend a city with no cultural controle of a bordering tile is suicidal with all the cataputs running around...
