I'm enjoying the restart of these as well, so hope you keep them going.
As an aside I've figured out why I couldn't see some posters images, turns out Privacy Badger was blocking Dropbox links (posted for information).
I'm finding sometimes Dropbox has little outages. For instance, right after Krill wrote his post I couldn't load any of the images. After a minute they would load again, though Dropbox never said it was down.

Duke Emund II, Part Three: The New King of Sweden
It's been a few months since Duke Emund got to stretch his legs, so let's take a look now that he's conquered Upplond, and is now Duke of Uppland, Angermanland, Jamtaland, and now Upplond. Duke Emund has really been a study in duality. He is a cannibal who never actually eats people and instead confesses his dark desires to all. (By the way, I've tried so many times to eat people. The game just does not seem to let you do the deed unless your religion has ritualistic cannibalism enabled.) He is a poet who has failed at every attempt to learn a second language. And he rules now both Uppland and Upplond yet the two duchies do not even border each other. And maybe the biggest duality: despite being a heathen and outcast by the Catholic world at large, somehow Emund is second in line for the throne of Sweden! We sit behind only King Erik II's oldest son, Einar! And it is only the vote of Countess Sofia, our supposed best friend, that stands between us and becoming the heir to the throne. The game wiki states to get people to vote for you, simply raise their opinion. Her opinion is maxed out at 100 and she still will not vote for me! I would try a seduction scheme and sleep with her, but that Emund is not touching that Lover's Pox riddled harlot. Yes, eating people is fine, but he won't sleep with his best friend to sway her vote. Contradictions abound. But he has no problem blackmailing her: Holding over the knowledge that one of her sons is a bastard, Sofia agrees to do whatever Emund asks. Except in game terms, apparently that does not mean voting for him! Her vote stays firmly with Einar. Maybe the game just needs time to register what is going on here. (Or I do not fully understand the game mechanics...) Months go by. Emund goes raiding. England this time: England is in the middle of civil war, and as long as I don't meet the combined forces of the King then my men should have free reign. The raiders plundered all of East Anglia and then made their way south through Cambridgeshire, Suffolk, Essex, Kent (86 gold from the Bishoperic of Canterbury! EIGHTY-SIX!), and Sussex. While the rebelling Duke had no interest in my raiders, letting them pass by unmolested, King William sent suicidal attack after suicidal attack after our men. Over 1,000 English were slaughtered at Radfield, and then the King gathered the surviving 800 and sent them straight back into our force. One could almost consider the king brave, facing down such an overwhelming force without hesitation. Except the King bravely ran away while his army was slaughtered to the last man! Only one man survived: King William himself. After looting the capital at Lewes, our raiders returned home, arriving back in March 1102. Right in time for King Erik II to die. The lords of Sweden cast their votes and Erik's second son, Nils, came from nowhere to win the crown and become the next king. While Emund had been away raiding, King Erik's first son, Einar, died of mysetrious circumstances . He had finished second still, a clear sign that the nobility of Sweden did not want Emund more than they wanted Nils. Emund felt especially betrayed by Sofia, who despite their friendship and despite her promises, despite him holding over the secret of her son's heritage, she still did not vote for Emund for the throne! Frustrated at the game mechanic, I cashed in the strong hook for an alliance, and then started a faction. Nils is weak with only 1 ally in Samogy, so Emund plans to press his demands as soon as the game will let me. But then Chieftain Lavrrohas of Siggevara asks for Emund's aid in his war against Norway. Augh the timing here is awful! But Emund is Brave, Humble, and Gregarious: he will answer his brother-in-law's call. This turns into a rehersal for wars to come. As Lavrrohas begins sieging down the lands in the north he wants for his own, we chase down Norway's army to earn more Prestige: Emund handily wins and King Sigurdr is captured, winning the war. We also capture Duke Dyri, ransoming him back for a nice 150 gold. In the end this war does not delay Emund's plans at all! Another nice piece of news going Emund's way: Chieftain Botulf of Sjeltie passes away in September. His son Erik takes over his place as Sjeltie fractures, and Emund now has another ally in the north. In October it is time to press Emund's demands on King Nils: I could not get a single other vassal to join my cause. Not even Sofia (ironically, here I could have used the strong hook to force her to join), and so Emund must go this alone. Yet Emund had allies and Nils did not. The tribes in the north: Kintus, Siggevara, Sjeltie. And the main strength of our alliance: Prussia and their 3300 men. Aiding King Nils is Duke Antal of Samogy, far to the south. Emund himself commands nearly 4000 men and they gather in Uppsala. They march quickly to the Swedish capital at Vastraaros and Nils' heir is taken prisoner: I had thoughts of executing the boy out of spite, but then I took a look at him: Perhaps leaving him with a sterile heir will be worth more trouble down the line! So he stays our prisoner for the war. Nils is not complacent in all this. He moved his army south, avoiding a direct confrontation, and then met with his allies from Samogy. Together they countered by landing at Aland. And while the strategic importance of such a move may be called into question, it was deemed too risky to try and relieve that siege and the island fell. Emund's nephew Baeivvet is taken prisoner. But the keep at Sodermannaland falls to our forces and we still have the advantage. King Nils then tries to move by boat to relieve the siege at Neeric. He is very quick by boat and catches the Siggevara army of 3200 there unawares. Emund and High Chieftain Milzas of Prussia see the move but cannot match the boats speed. Our forces arrive as the battle is going against Siggevara. But we are still quick enough to rally their forces! The Prussians then join in with another 3300 troops and victory is swift. With the victory Emund is able to force his demands on King Nils: Uppland is now independent and the title Kingdom of Sweden is destroyed! As the holder of 3 duchy titles, we are eligible to create our own kingdom. Emund wastes no time and declares himself King of Uppland, Jamtaland, Norrland, and Upplond. In time this would be shortened to King of the Two Upplands (I renamed it later). Except, why does Sweden still exist? A bug in the game or something I did not understand?
