Oh Commodore you forgot the spear and now you are going to pay for it.

So, how do we think this is going to go?
Gavagai seems destined for death, with two players heavily focused on him and a limited production base. Not sure who will come out on top of Naufragar and Ginuelito. MS seems to be doing quite well, imo. May be a third fiddle onto Naufragar. SD seems like he's losing land at a prodigious rate. Hard to know how that will go.

I like the city pillage, but I don't think I would try to take that gold city / the food city until Pin comes back in / with cats. Gav is practically a dead man walking, focus elsewhere for a bit. Commodore also may lose the entire southern peninsula to Nauf if he isn't careful. @ Krill Man seeing all of Gavs forces there I wouldn't have settled that city. Mind you if the goal was to draw forces away from Pin, that might work. @Qqqqqq SD lost 1 border city spot and had to do some inconvenient whipping and upgrading. His slow expanding will probably doom him more than this. But again, he does border Gav so at the very least he won't lose out on spots that way, which he should have by all rights. I didn't think Nauf and Ginger would fight as much as they have over brown land, so ya Magic is getting a little bit of a pass between them and bordering SD.
Com is really screwed by the inland sea aspect of the super lake for longer term defence, so he does have a longer term motivation to try a gambit to hold the land, especially because the land split, quality and barb city towards Pin has numbed any sense of urgency to act there. It cost him a settler and he can't really settle more cities (until the island city is down, which he just found), and he correctly identified the axe stack is more important (yet does not defend it with spears, but cost of the urgency that is felt with the availability of that city location.
As he said, annoying not fatal. He can handle the preat stack now, and just annoyed Bing, but larger issue is tech with Pin fielding HA and Gav with preats, Com has the strength disadvantage. In that case I'll say I'm leaning towards just doing this quick wave of 2 horse archers in each city and then starting infrastructure while the war kicks off. But if I see Gavagai power spiking then I'll stay on units or go half and half Noooo!!! No half and half! War, or war not, there is no try!
I like how nauf missed the mids build. Also with distances involved I dont get his focus on early game warfare, but maybe it's just in his blood.
Also agree with cornflakes.
Joao with Mids and a neighbour that has Henge/Oracle capital and a holy city?
Who cares that the land is brown? This is the dream for the "Monk" economy.
