I'm not certain of what I'm doing next, inasmuch as Pindicator is not actually "handled" until I know where his forces are committed, and I will not commit forces anywhere except defence until that happens. This actually leads to an interesting conundrum for Pindicator and I, and you can see why I pushed for Currency and took that ris of being late to Construction. Pindicator is researching Currency at max tax. And he is generating 13gpt. By my reckoning on the power graph and demographics, Pindicator has built eight (8) medieval unit, samurai and trebs. Maybe he built a couple of spears instead of a samurai, I don't have any way to tell that. We also know that Pindicator has trouble usingthe whip, and doesn't have the ability to easily work any cottages. He has lower power than me and only one good route to invade. Contrast this to the Sumerian position: Construction and Currency are completed. I have HBR, and enough gold saved to complete IW by eot108. I don't know if Pin has that. Everytime I go back and look at his score increases and the power graph I can't see where he would have gotten it. I've got no real happy cap issues that require me to tech Calendar, but he is not that far from the limit with just ivory. I have a mobile force and collateral situated at our border, and my necessary infrastructure is pretty much in place. I have a GS on hand which is unused compared to his bulb of Machinery, and a much better cottage capital. For every unit he builds I can (and I am) matching him with two: cats and HA are enough to hold in the numbers now in place. Does he stack up further? His costs will grow and destroy his ability to tech, whilst I can pull ahead without even touching rep specialists. Does he cut his losses and move onto Thoth? He needs me to move my units away or offer him some form of agreement that I will not invade when he is abroad, so he has to open diplomacy. Or he stops building his military and essentially cuts his losses...and then I can split my forces to invade Bing. This is part of why I opened diplomacy with the "Declare on Thoth", just to get something out of PIindicator. So how does he get himself out of this situation? He declared on Thoth, but offers no evidence of real commitment. I can outwhip him. I can, and already have, out teched him. I've outbuilt him. So I smell a trap, and I believe this is a diversion. Pindicator will stack up in Staunton, there is no way to see into that tile. He will road the tile 1SW of the copper and dump his stack there. The next turn he will declare and move a sentry chariot onto the plains hill adjacent to Rhubarb and consider if he can push forward, before roading the grassland to place a stack onto the plains hill. Because he declared this turn (T106), I expect Pindicator to move his stack forward against me no later than T108, but possibly T107. I suspect T108 to give me one extra turn to not whip and move units into position, before my paranoia possibly sets in. If neither Thoth nor Pin have lost any military power by T108, I'd have to ask "Why not?" and the only answer is that Pindicators units were not in position to attack Thoth. So be prepared for a war in the east, but the questino is how to attack Bing? That is straightforward: build up swords, cats and a few vulture, spear and WE at Olive, then take the spare HA and split them to send enough with the slow mover stack at Sippar, and the remainder north at Opis. But until I have Pindicator under control I build cats and HA to manage the east, put a little bit of production to finish economy builds and two settlers, which are done, and then put the military builds into overdrive and force Pin to build more military to defend. This is the trap for Pindicator, if he doesn't invade in the next few turns. I could delete just my posts if you'd like to keep it but it would still butcher it. Thrawn, if you want to delete your posts that's understandable in this day and age, but I would prefer it if you deleted just your posts and not the entire thread.
Question for lurkers.
If I have city visibility via Espionage, does that give visibility equivalent to a unit standing in the city ie extra visibility if the city is on a hill? (June 29th, 2023, 04:30)Krill Wrote: Question for lurkers. Yes, it works exactly like that.

No trebs, no visible HA. 12 samurai and 2 axes, with another samurai just produced from Lasker doing nothing apart from being annoying. 14 hitters and no collateral. I already have seven catapults and 11 HA ready to go, plus a further 5 vultures andwhatever I can squeeze out this turn. I'm pretty sure, minus some bad combat rolls, I win this battle. next turn should be fun.
Lurker question.
If there is a stack of units belonging to player A, in player A territory, and there is no blue glow around those units, then none of those units can promote. Is this understanding correct? Because if so something weird is going on as most of Pindicators units have not taken promotions, all his cities have barracks so they should promote, and there are too many units for him to have upgraded from old, unpromoted axemen. (June 30th, 2023, 03:45)Krill Wrote: Lurker question. No. If he promoted one of if each type of units he has, you will see no glow even there are promotions pending. This is from experience not from code diving. I am 99,999% sure of this. |
