Right now, I am asking around if anyone wants to make a map.
Do the civforum people use edited maps when running pbems, or do they just go with a straight roll from the base scripts?

I don't think pure random map would be a good idea because you can spawn in 6 hexes apart or so (or maybe sullla was wrong about that?). You just need to get someone to reroll until they get something playable.
Random map would cause me to upgrade Maori to outright banned because they mess up random map generation because they start at sea. Sumer would be added too if you YOLO it and go with first map because they are too strong with only 6 hexes.

Better Balanced Start mod helps with the most egregious failings of Civ 6 start balancing, but rolling an untested random map is still asking for at least one player to get royally screwed by circumstance.

I am somewhat time limited at the moment but I can roll 10 maps and select the most balanced looking one for you.
Due to rustiness, I am not sure how to check for strategics but I think wordlbuilder did the trick, right?

Thank you so much for being willing to step up and get the game rolling!
You have until July to roll the maps, so feel free to take your time.
Worldbuilder should make it easy to check for strategics. With the Gathering Storm changes we would be looking at 2-3 copies per person, ideally.
I'll just repost the outlines of the map we were looking for:
Quote:A significant land component to the map, rather than it being wholly naval based (I would think this leans towards using Pangea or Seven Seas as the base map script)
No abundance of city states that would be easy for one player to conquer and snowball off of. If you are randomly rolling maps, just make sure the number of city states is set on the lower end
Balanced strategic resources and starting locations. The surrounding lands can be less balanced owing to how much time you are willing to put in, but ideally we don't want to see one player have a marsh sugar + plains hill deer in their capital (6f + 5hammers without improvements!) and another player have only grass cows (3f1h when improved)
Hoping that is not too much to ask for!

I will get to it and probably post some first results to the lurker thread once I have them. Maybe somebody wants to give their feedback as well

An update for my schedule: I will be on vacation from July 5-15. I don't want to delay the game more than necessary, but I don't think anyone would be available to sub given the paucity of Civ 6 players here, so we might want to start after I am back.

Sorry, it took me a bit longer to get started in this but the game is installed and I will roll some maps and post them for some lurker feedback.
