sunrise-hosted games during the Thanksgiving break

Just an FYI, I will be out of town for Thanksgiving starting early tomorrow and running though Sunday, December 1st. I will have internet and email access during that time, but will not have physical access to my hosting computer.

I've been running a UPS on the server for a few months now, and I believe during that time we've only had one power related outage. If another happens while I'm traveling we're unfortunately out of luck.

Otherwise I think we'll be OK. Internet outages should self-correct since all the port forwarding and DNS stuff is automatic. Game-related issues, both reloads and crashes, should be correctable as I've bitten the bullet and re-licensed a remote access client. I've tested it and it seems to have no trouble saving/loading games.

Anyways, rather than spamming each of my pitboss IT threads I wanted to put this info here. Hopefully the next 9 days go smoothly, but if not everyone can now be in the loop on what's going on.

could you please explain how it's possible to make reloads by remote access?

He would use his remote desktop application to control his computer and see its display, and then reload the game as he normally would as if he were sitting in front of the computer.

so what you're saying, sunrise, is that your holiday being out of town is more important than the uptime of our civ games

I THINK YOU NEED TO REASSESS YOUR LOYALTIES

I didn't see it in the terms of service for his pitboss hosting, but I don't think it promised 99.999% uptime or anything. For what we're paying him...we can't complain. lol
