Steam Broadcasting Beta

Twitch be going down

Looks like Steam is opening a beta for streaming. Maybe this is going to open up the option for streaming more games here...
Current games (All): RtR: PB80 Civ 6: PBEM23

Ended games (Selection): BTS games: PB1, PB3, PBEM2, PBEM4, PBEM5B, PBEM50. RB mod games: PB5, PB15, PB27, PB37, PB42, PB46, PB71. FFH games: PBEMVII, PBEMXII. Civ 6:  PBEM22 Games ded lurked: PB18

I wouldn't say Twitch is going down until we see how accessible the streams of popular players would be on steam. Also we're going to have to see if non-Steam games could be streamed. If you have more details I'd be interested in seeing them.

I wouldn't say Twitch is going down until we see how accessible the streams of popular players would be on steam. Also we're going to have to see if non-Steam games could be streamed. If you have more details I'd be interested in seeing them.

You could add any program as a game to Steam even before the broadcast thing. Apparently some people have added a video player and are streaming tv shows and porn.

Steam will have a long way to go to catch up. Twitch has a pretty big community built there largely due to way streamers make money. Would be very difficult for them to switch and keep their subs meaning not good move financially even if Valve offers just as good of deal or even slightly better. Plus they still need to add support for overlays, webcams and all that jazz which looks like it doesn't have.

Good to see it happening though as Twitch needs some competition since others shut down.
