One element of the Civ4 gameplay we're never experimented with is
the Advanced Start feature. It's time to change that - and include
an unconventional scoring system to boot! Epic
Three is back again in modified form for those who missed
it initially.

Scoring
Clarifications: Please take note of (or screenshot) your F9
Demographics in 10AD and 1500AD, for use in the eventual scoring.
You should also keep a savegame file from these dates in case any
confusion arises.
If
you win the game before 1500AD, you will not be eligible for scoring
in those categories.
In
the event of ties, with exact demographics numbers or same year
finishes, all tied players score as if they were not tied (e.g.
three way tie for second scores 1st, 2nd-2nd-2nd, 5th). Note also
that this is very unlikely to occur!
Comments:
GNP and land area scoring goals should work against one another,
so you'll have to balance the two (at least in theory). The 10AD
scoring will be enormously influenced by your initial choices with
the Advanced Start mechanic. What will prove to be the most effective
strategy? That's up to you to figure out!
It should be fun comparing notes on report day.
Players
should not be scared off by Emperor difficulty level. The game has
been placed on this setting because the AI does not handle the Advanced
Start mechanic nearly as well as the Human player. You may want
to run some tests with Advanced Starts if you're unfamiliar with
this system.
Closing
