Realms
Beyond Neverwinter Module
The
Realms Beyond Neverwinter module (RBNWN), written by discjacker,
was created to serve as a meeting place and a hub that connects
to other modules and servers. There are also some adventures
available within the module itself.
Connecting
The
RBNWN module is hosted on Griselda and diskjacker's server,
which is why it it sometimes called "gris.net" for
short. To connect, select "multiplayer", LAN game",
and "direct connection." You'll connect directly
to the IP- 12.225.96.108. The password is the "standard"
Realms Beyond password; email Griselda
if you don't know what that is and would like to play.
The
Areas
You'll
enter the module in the Village, a small town with a few townspeople
and houses available for those who ask nicely. From there,
you can either choose to enter the Inn and Tavern of the Seven
Moons, or you can jump into the nearby well and be transported
directly to the Wood Between the Worlds.
The
Inn and Tavern of the Seven Moons has many merchants who can
meet the traveling adventurer's needs, and a fully stocked
bar where you can relax with friends. Talk to Flini Ikiikianowick,
who should greet you on the way in, if you'd like more information.
From Seven Moons, you can enter the basement Contest, or you
can enter the Wardrobe (click the floor right in front of
it) to go to the Wood Between the Worlds.
The
Wood Between the Worlds is the "hub" of the module.
You can enter one of several pools and be transported to different
game servers. Not all servers will always have a game running,
but by clicking on a pool you can find out if the server is
up, and how many players are on (you will also have the opportunity
to save your character and choose another one before you enter
the new server). The module launcher portal takes you to another
server on the same machine. The bartender there will be able
to run several different modules on that server. If you start
a new module and see a yellow portal back to the module launcher,
try to remember to take the portal back to the module launcher
when you're finished playing, so that others may select a
different module. There are also portals to discjacker's module
review portal (module changed every couple of days), charis.net,
and roland.net.
Seven
Moons has two bulletin boards. One is in the tavern itself,
and one in the Wood Between the Worlds. You can use these
bulletin boards to communicate with other players, set up
games, discuss or recommend modules, or even to share a poem.
Talk to the scribes to post a message on the bulletin board.
Adventuring
There
are two main adventuring areas in the module. In the basement
of Seven Moons is the Contest. This is an assortment of rooms
with monsters that get progressively more difficult to defeat.
See how far you can make it without resting or returning to
town. The contest monsters respawn rather quickly, so you
have to make it through on a single attempt.
We
are also in the process of creating a Classic Diablo-style
dungeon. You will find this in the cemetary to the northeast
of town. Level one and parts of level two are currently complete.
Make sure you actually look at the skeleton's corpses- the
drops have been customized and you might find some familiar
items from the past!
The
Realms Beyond Neverwinter module is still under contruction.
