  Tech thread for EITB 29
Posted by: Ellimist - May 30th, 2013, 14:22 - Forum: Erebus in the Balance PBEM XXIX - Replies (244)

(June 15th, 2013, 09:50)Mardoc Wrote: Well, it looks like we've got:

Brian: Averax of the Sheaim

Tholal: Mahala of the Doviello

HidingKneel: Rhoanna of the Hippus

Ellimist: Auric of the Illians

DaveV: Furia of the Balseraphs

Is anyone else interested in starting another one soon?

I am willing to play with either mod but have a preference for FFH over EITB. Settings tbd, of course, but something similar to the last few games that have started would be great. I'm also open to various gimmicks for this one, but first let's see who's interested and what the consensus is.

Please be willing to help maintain a pace of at least 1 turn per day if you are interested in joining.

  Excel Macros

Anyone know of either a good source for teaching Excel macros, or willing to help a fellow RBer out?

I'm proficient in just about everything else in Excel, but never learned this piece.

  Defending against spies?
Posted by: marasai - May 28th, 2013, 12:08 - Forum: Master of Orion - Replies (3)

So as you all are probably aware I haven't been playing that long. One subject that continues to be a thorn in my side are enemy spies. How do you approach the situation? Do you use some constant level of spending, short burst, or ignore it? What seems to work best for you?

I usually just ignore it and take my lumps. It seems much cheaper to rebuild sabotage damage than paying for counterspies. I worry about tech steals though, the comp may be able to get a leg up on me that way sometimes.

Your thoughts?

  Tasunke's Note
Posted by: Tasunke - May 28th, 2013, 08:49 - Forum: The Gaming Table - No Replies

After making a few observations, I think I should not sign up for any new games until I get my situation more organized. It might take a few days, it might take a few weeks, but I need some time to work some things out.

In the meantime I will do my best to keep up with my current responsibilities on this forum.

Thank you,
Tasunke

  Replacement player needed
Posted by: Old Harry - May 27th, 2013, 16:06 - Forum: Civilization General Discussion - Replies (2)

In the Democracy Game team TEAM is again in need of a replacement turn player, or someone available to play turns regularly when Tasunke can't as he is really busy at the moment. Things that you can expect include:
- An exciting and hot medieval war against the score leaders
- A chance to prove your fighting mettle against some of the best players on Realms Beyond
- The possibility of RB-immortality if you manage to blunt the Troll attack
- No chance of winning
- A turn every one or two days
It's a pitboss and this could be excellent experience for someone looking for MP-warfare practice. More than one player can get involved as this is a team game, but we do need someone who can play regularly.

Please check here for the forum: http://realmsbeyond.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?fid=49 I think T-hawk or BRick might need to give you access to the TEAM subforum.

Reply here or contact Tasunke if you are interested.

  Missing the games.
Posted by: Ryan - May 26th, 2013, 11:59 - Forum: The Gaming Table - Replies (2)

Hey all , Long time no see. I just wanted to make a public apology for missing the games that I signed up for due to just honestly getting lost in the work for the finals and just lack of responsibility. I apologize if this caused any wasting of your time and you guys mean a lot to me. Yes, you are just internet folk. But you have been there for me when I needed it. I am sorry for letting you down...

Please tell me that everyone else is watching these games. The 1 vs 1 duels have been hilarious (Cait vs Cait, Nunu vs Annie, Twitch vs Heimerdinger?!) and the team games have been incredibly exciting. If you've never watched the pro games before, this would be a fantastic time to start. smile

Signs that you're a Civ Junkie

Why not eh?

  • Have been known to say 'OOH, Marble'
  • SE, CS and MC do not refer to two software packages and a rap vocalist
  • Describe everyday actions as 'optimal' or 'suboptimal'
  • Refer to ended games at RB as 'the reading backlog'
  • Spend hours trying to roll Mansa Musa of Inca a start which will get Hindu against the AI and not waste worker turns
  • Active open RB forum tab on every mobile device owned
  • Have been known to say 'OOH, Stone'
  • Nightmares about assuming a granary is the best build where a lighthouse actually is
  • Chuckle every time Lincoln is mentioned
  • Resist the temptation to say 'spoiler alert' and then the spoiler in the same sentence
  • Grammaticise in the following form: 'not that great OF an (x)', instead of just 'not that great an (x)'
  • 'Shrining' is a thing, as is a 'monk economy'
  • Can spell 'Schwegadon' correctly without referring to outside sources
