  CivPlayers Civ5 Cash Kickoff Contest!
Posted by: CanuckSoldier - September 2nd, 2010, 19:51 - Forum: Civilization General Discussion - Replies (1)

The CivPlayers Admin team is pleased to announce that in order to get our Civ5 league off to a good start, we will be running a cash contest this fall.

On Dec 1st, 2010 the top Cton/FFA, Duel, Teamer, and overall highest skill player, will recieve $100USD for their efforts. Yes in theory one single player could come away with $400 if they manage the difficult task of leading in all categories.

We will be publishing the detailed rules for the contest in good time. But rest assured that rules will be in place to prevent any abuse or cheating in the contest. In the end the player(s) that master Civ5 MP in the first few months on Civplayers Civ5 league will be rewarded.

Yes I know it is not winning the lottery or anything, but it will certainly put your name in lights and give you some more cash for the busy Christmas shoppng period!

Feel free to give us feedback in this thread

  FfH SG?
Posted by: Dantski - September 2nd, 2010, 18:31 - Forum: Civilization General Discussion - Replies (1)

Since the team pitboss is dead in the water, I was wondering if people may be interested in a SG instead.

Initial thoughts are as follows

1. Play as the Bannor, eliminate all evil civs then try to win a peaceful victory.
2. Play as the Sheaim, raise the AC to 100 and try to win domination/conquest
3. Use the RB honourable french ruleset, adopt Order/Empyrean and go from there.

As for possible game settings

Monarch difficulty?
Standard-Large size (FfH slows my comp up in lategame so anything bigger might cause a meltdown)
Lairs on
Normal Barbs
Acheron off? I'm not too fussed honestly, I'd like to keep Orthus + Duin though.
Not sure about map type, highlands might be fun, but so could quite a few others. Erebus anyone? bang
Quick/Normal speed. i

  That Girl
Posted by: Moriah - September 1st, 2010, 23:50 - Forum: Off Topic - No Replies

who's that girl with the long dark hair
who's that girl, so lithe and so fair
she's the girl moves fleetingly fast
she's the girl makes company last

who's that girl, bright as the e'ening star
who's that girl, so near yet so far
she's the girl, decides where she goes
she's the girl, unloads all your woes

who's that girl so graceful of form
who's that girl cooking up a storm
she's the girl from angel to bitch
she's the girl, loves with aching itch

who's that girl with sparkles as eyes
who's that girl, divinity's prize
she's the girl was sent from above
she's the girl descending with doves

who's that girl with the warm embrace
who's that girl with radiant grace
she's the girl takes my breath away
she's the girl makes me shout hooray

that's my girl
my angel
my soulmate

League of Legends General Discussion Thread
Posted by: Sullla - August 31st, 2010, 14:38 - Forum: League of Legends - Replies (3988)

Hey folks. If you're looking for a Multiplayer game to try while waiting for Civ5 to come out, why not try League of Legends? It's a free player vs. player game that pits teams of five against one another. Speaker got me into this game, and there's a bunch of Civ4 MP veterans (Mookie, Metallian, Atlas) who join us for games pretty regularly. We're still waiting for sunrise to join in, the latecomer. :neenernee

I mentioned this on my website last week, but no one seemed particularly interested. So I'm upping the ante here and posting a video of a game that I played yesterday, in three parts over at youTube:

Part One: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hce2jbTx0r4
Part Two: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j3w8s1ueLXk
Part Three: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-vcOXL6fXMQ

I've done the commentary assuming no knowledge of the game, so you can see how a typical game plays out. League of Legends is a very tactical game, one that rewards patience and intelligent play over running around the map like a doofus. It's really great when played with friends... not so great when played with random online schmuks who will blame you for their own mistakes. So let's "Find Some Friends" (eh Speaker?) and see if anyone here would be interested in playing this game. Did I mention again that the game is free to play?

No, this was not an advertisement posted by a spambot. lol I think some of you would find this game to be a lot of fun, and we can use some more online teammates.

Sub needed for Team Maverick Pitboss
Posted by: DMOC - August 29th, 2010, 08:45 - Forum: Civilization General Discussion - Replies (4)

Hi,

I am going to need a substitute for the Team Mavericks pitboss.

http://www.civstats.com/viewgame.php?gameid=1799

The subbing period will run from Sept 1 until, about, Sept 9th or 10th, I would think.

However, there is also a chance that I will be unable to get the Mac versino of Civ (long story short, I am going to be away from my PC and just got a Mac, so the PC version doesn't work). If that's the case the sub may be permanent.

If you choose to sub for me, I will give you a hefty dose of information and advice, so be prepared. smile

Civplayers League 2.0(Civ5 league) open beta started
Posted by: CanuckSoldier - August 26th, 2010, 07:45 - Forum: Civilization General Discussion - No Replies

This is a bit off topic I admit, but it is Civ5 related. For anyone interested in giving us feedback on the UI or features for the new Civplayers site design please feel free too.

It is still a work in progress the new forums are about 95% done, and the player database/report/statistics/ranking system is about 60% done right now.

But we are at the point that players can play with the functions available and give us some feedback as we move towards a late August/Early Sept launch of the core league for Civ3/4 and of course Civ5. Things like the Tournament system and Clan Championship Cup, and clan rankings will come after that.

You can post your feedback if any here

What is the trick to a quick bulb of Astronomy? Which techs do I need, which ones to I avoid and which GPs do I need?
