That doesn't stop it from being a huge improvement. Civ V didn't have an adequate military hammer sink and that meant it couldn't have satisfying economic growth like Civ IV does. I'm not sure Civ VI is going to go far enough here, but a hammer sink will sure help.
I can't disagree with that. I don't have the vocabulary to adequetely describe just how dire I view Civ V warfare, so yeah, massive improvement. Just not enough to make me think it's actually "good".

If they'd started off at three and rose to something decent like 7-8 with unit mixes available that would have been good. Now thye just let you combine the same unit into a stronger unit. That's not a stacking limit, that's a hammer sink.
I wonder if we could mod that in if the rest of the game is worth the trouble.
The mod would likely require a substantial rework. At present, you can only combine the same units together in a "stacked" unit, you can't combine different units into a stack. Except "support" units and other units. I doubt it's worthwhile.

I agree w/ Jkaen & pickepikkl, having a large chunk of the active Civ community here playing the first randomly generated Adventure map as everyone's first game would be a uniquely cool experience

Hooray, glad to see support.
I have a plan in case it for some reason isn't feasible to distribute different civ starts on the same map, I can detail when I'm off mobile.
I'm thinking since it's a low-key inaugural game, we should let people post results whenever they finish, or even allow partial updating as they play through it. I know that is counter to how it's been done in the past, but seeing as there will be quite a few people watching to see what the general opinion of the game is, and there isn't a hardcore win condition players are battling for, I think it would be fine.
Also, I think the whole civ list (or close to it) is known by now. How about a poll to see what countries people are most interested in having in the inaugural game?

Aw, see, now you're making me want to buy at launch a game I'm not sure I want to buy ever. That's just unkind.

Let's just do Scythia, think it's the only civ which appears for the first time ever

Well, they do start off with a stack of 2 units (frontline+support) and end with 6 (frontline army + support army), if I understand correctly. And of course it's a hammer sink, that's the function that stacking has in the first place -- giving the ability to deploy, in a concentrated manner, your production as military strength.

I think it's worthwhile to wait and see the abilities, as some of them are likely to be patently unfun. I also don't like Scythia abilties as they feel like railroading, which is a shame. +100% on production of mounted units and a unique early mounted unit that doesn't require horses is just too much.

Which is why the plan is to have a map with a bunch of different civs, and then either randomly assign or let players pick which Civ they want to play as. ![smile smile](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/smile2.gif) The poll would be to pick like 6 or 8 Civs out of the bucket of 18.
EDIT: For reference, out of the 18 Civs in the base game (sorry Aztecs), we've seen details announced for 10 so far. So we should have a decent idea of what the options will be.

Actually, in the spirit of continuity over time, Looking at this image from the Civ 4 Potluck I was drawing from:
All of those Civs are present in Civ 6 except Mali. So go with the 7 that are in Civ 6, and then either put the last one in a poll, or go with Kongolese to keep with the African nation theme.
