Moving after shooting - is this an exploit?
Posted by: Dwedit - August 31st, 2014, 13:43 - Forum: Master of Orion - Replies (2)

You are able to move after you shoot, as long as you click on the map while the shooting animation is playing. This can sometimes let your bombers completely avoid missiles, or let you dance around enemy ships with a maneuverability of 1, and get free shots at them. I just wonder if this is considered an exploit or not?

Realms Beyond 2014-15 Champions League Prediction Competition?
Posted by: Twinkletoes89 - August 31st, 2014, 12:17 - Forum: The Gaming Table - Replies (13)

After the success of the World Cup predictor, I know a few people mentioned about doing some other competitions like it.

I thought that maybe doing one on the Champions League might be a solid bet.

We can do the same stuff as before too - Top Goalscorer / Total Goals / Winner (or final 4) predictor

Would anyone like to do it? I'm prepared to run it again if need be.

1 - TT
2 - Gustaran
3- Gaspar
4 - Old Harry
5- Azza
6 - Dantski
7 - Jkaen

  PB17 permanent replacement
Posted by: slowcheetah - August 31st, 2014, 06:42 - Forum: Civilization General Discussion - Replies (11)

Hello everyone,

I leave Britain in a week for pastures abroad. I can't take the game with me as I am completely unsure of my availability and internet access. Unfortunately, my civilisation is a bottom of the scoreboard ruin, but retiring to AI would still probably cause too much inherent randomness. Would anyone be willing to help the game out? I can play until next Sunday.

Specifics (PB17 spoilers)

You would be playing Isabella of the Dutch. There is a grand total of one powerful city (Size 15 Moai, now the capital). Zanth has Cavalry on rifles and most of my former empire. 2metra has a tonne of currassiers on the other side. We do not have gunpowder. If the game hadn't been progressing at a snails pace I would almost certainly be dead at this point

Born out of the fantasy football draft, here it is smile

So what are people liking out of the new Khans spoilers from the Pax party? I mean, Sultai Charm is obviously awesome, but Crackling Doom is interesting as well.

Also, if you're not playing Cockatrice, you should be--my name's the same as my RB name smile

  I made a game!
Posted by: SevenSpirits - August 29th, 2014, 05:05 - Forum: The Gaming Table - Replies (11)

My co-workers and I made a boardgame called Shadowrun: Crossfire. It's a cooperative deckbuilding adventuring game. I'm really proud of it. (And I'm excited that it's finally available - the game design was done over a year ago.) If you "cooperative" and/or "deckbuilding" appeal to you, give it a look. smile

Here's a review of it: http://boardgamegeek.com/thread/1202541/...cetowercon

More importantly, I now have a published game! Woohoo! multidance

  Buying New Laptop Assistance requested
Posted by: HitAnyKey - August 28th, 2014, 10:44 - Forum: Civilization General Discussion - Replies (16)

Hey fellow RBers....I'm getting ready to buy myself a new computer to finally replace this 2004 Dell Dimension desktop I've been running on for like forever....
Plan is to replace it with a laptop (since my impending job layoff will require me turning in my work laptop).
I'm expecting to spend anywhere in the $1200-$1700 or so range, since I need/want it to be suitable for minor gaming in addition to all the other normal stuff I'd use it for. So those of you who are good at finding/choosing good sturdy gaming laptops, please chime in.

First question, is how many of you actually have Win8 and is it really as bad as I've been hearing? My wife is convinced I should make sure to only buy one with Win7 Professional. The other determining factor will be if my existing Civ IV BTS games can't even run on Win8...that would make the decision right there. Looking forward to finally trying out Civ V (and Gods&Kings expansion) that my wife bought me for Xmas last year...haven't been able to play it since it won't run on my current desktop (oops!).

Anyway, back to the topic at hand. Here are some things I'm looking to find in a prospective laptop:
1. Decent size screen, but not so huge that the machine weighs a ton.
2. SSD for the OS, since I travel often enough and I know that helps protect things
3. General sturdy design....need a laptop that can survive a good amount of movement in and out of laptop bags/backbacks for travel, etc.
4. Min 16GB RAM
5. Quad-core processor, probably i7.

That's really about it for my requirements, I think. I really don't know enough about graphics cards to know what to look for in one. Right now the only game I play on the computer is Civ4, and soon to be Civ5. Whether I find any other games I might want to play remains to be seen, but I don't really expect to be playing any FPS games or high-impact graphical games...I have a PS3 for that.
