Endless Legend Playthrough |

The Pitch
So I decided in the end to get Endless Legend, a new 4X game, and thought I would post a play through on this so everybody else could get a feeling for it.
So far I have played the tutorial, and the first 10 or so turns of the game a couple of times and that's it, so it will be a bit of a learning experience.
I will start the game in about a week, but I thought I would post here first for 2 reasons, first to introduce the game (what I know about it) and contrast with Civ, and secondly to check if there is interest from others to run this either as a succession game, or some sort of vote group decision approach with me playing the turns.
There seems to be a natural break every 20 turns where you can make Civ wide edicts, which would work as a good review point for these approaches.
If anybody has comments or is interested in helping out, please shout

Dhalphir seems to have gone awol so we're thinking about replacing him if he doesn't show up again in the next 48 hours. Would YOU like to be that replacement? This is an excellent opportunity for a newbie to get some mid-late game experience with no pressure to perform, or for an old hand to have some fun.
PB18 is the insane 33 player game, so turns roll every two days and your chances are fairly random, but its a lot of fun (until you are invaded by your neighbour)!
If you are interested in making history please report to the tech thread: http://realmsbeyond.net/forums/showthrea...#pid501029

Best time to kick off Golden Age? (Civ4) |

I'm playing a CFC based civ4 pbem game, I have the The MoM and I have just picked up the free Artist from Music. My land is pretty much full re cities (a couple of back fillers) and I have been chugging along nicely (#1 in score). I have just exhausted my gold supply but (tbh), most of my tech comes from my (representative) scientist specialists.
Q: Kick off a Golden Age straight off ... or delay? Are their any 'it depends' issues that I should consider?

Hey all!
I'm wondering about the possibility for setting up such a game again, following the standard RB rules instead of what we did in the last one I participated in with full diplo and so forth so forth. There are several aspects of the game I would really like to learn, that is hard to learn without hands on experience - and you can only learn so much by reading the game threads for the Pitbosses that are currently running, or have been archived, before you need to test things out yourself.
For this to work I envision we need at least 6-7 Green players (me being one of them, and I guess an upper limit of 12 players/teams or something like that?), and a similar amount of Mentors who would be team mates for the Greens. The Greens should be the ones doing the actual playing, while the Mentors take on a ded-lurk role where they can also log in to the game on the Civ they are mentoring whenever they want to look at things to make suggestions etc. Screenshots and turn reporting can be lacking, and also it's not so great to have turn reports that are flooded with way too many screenshots (as other lurkers will find that annoying) so it's important that the Mentors have the option to log in and take a look around for themselves.
One question is whether to use a mod, or to just use the base game. The latest version of RtR has a lot of neat features that is helpful in case of game crashes (particularly the extra generated autosaves are extremely nice, and observer mode is fun for the lurkers) - but perhaps it is possible to remove the RtR modifications and run with these features on the base BTS setting too, if that's the best. However, since I feel quite at home here on RB, and most RBers seem to be a bit tired of the base BTS game, I suspect either the RtR or the Tides of War mod would be a good idea to use since most games these days seem to use one of these anyways?
I will of course host the game if we get enough interest ![smile smile](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/smile2.gif)
