We've had a bunch of opinions in the tech thread but no consensus, so lets use the medium of Poll to find out what everyone really thinks, then do nothing about it.
Please vote for EVERY option you would be happy to play with (ie I can cope with 24 or 48 hour timers and would really like to see option 5 given a go, but I don't mind if the consensus is for one of the other options, so I didn't tick 7).
Edit: I couldn't add notes because the options had a character limit on them, the notes were:
2 & 3 (I want to make LP's life hard)
6 (ie if peace suddenly reigns switch to 24 hour turns)
7 (okay, maybe this should read: "I won't be able to cope with the options I didn't vote for, please don't force me to", but I thought the original was more thematic.)

The old NatNeg thread - How to avoid bouncing in Pitboss (without Gamespy) |

EDIT: For current information on the active NatNeg and Lobby server hosted by Zulan, see this thread.
After Gamespy shut down their servers people have been unable to connect simultaneously to Pitboss games. They "bounce" and are told that the peers don't have their firewalls configured correctly.
The reason for this problem is that Gamespy shut down their NAT Negotiation (NatNeg) servers which were needed to establish connections between players. We now have a working replacement.
How to avoid bounces:
You need to modify your windows hosts file to redirect requests to Gamespy's NatNeg servers to the replacement server, currently hosted by Zulan.
Run a text editor as administrator, and open the file C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts.
Add the following four lines to the hosts file, and save it. You should overwrite the existing file, which should be named "hosts" with no file extension, so not "hosts.txt".
Code: 148.251.130.188 civ4bts.natneg1.gamespy.com
148.251.130.188 civ4bts.natneg2.gamespy.com
148.251.130.188 civ4bts.natneg3.gamespy.com
148.251.130.188 civ4bts.available.gamespy.com
In pictures:
That's it! You are now able to connect to other players who have applied the same fix to their computers. You don't need to change your NetComm port in civilization.ini, configure port forwarding on your router, or any such stuff. Connecting to other players should work just as well as it did prior to Gamespy's shutdown.

EitB XXXVIII Setup and Tech Thread |

Right now there are too many PBEM games of erebus, but i think in the next few weeks/months, 1 or 2 of those games are going to end, and i would like to play another one.
This time i would like to propose 2/3/4 teams game.
We make the teams as balanced as we can based on the participants.
During the games each players can see and reply the spoilers and reports of his teammates, and there would be a thread for each team to plan the teams strategy.
i think this way the new to pbem games (like me) would get really fast experience and have a fun forum oriented game.
No tower winning (and perhaps normal speed, because tech will go really fast on team oriented game).
Size of the map depending on the ammount of players.
What do you think of this?
So FAR
Team 1:
Kragroth
Auroarcher
Eclipse
Team 2:
Qgqqqqq
Evil Muffin

1. How are we picking civs/leaders?
Are we allowing duplicates or not? Are we choosing privately or snake-picking?
2. How (if any) should gifting cities be sorted?
As Krag notes, units can't be gifted, but cities can, and have some interesting interactions in a team game. Personally I'm in favor of "on the first turn in your teams possession only."
3. Should any civs be banned?
I've been reading up on the pitboss lately, and I'm thinking the clan probably should be. Their strength as a team player is really very powerful, as most of their weaknesses disappear with the nature of the game. Maybe if we allow duplicates, but even then, its a bit boring if each team has a clan - they've been done in a teamer, IMO.
4. How do we want the map to be?
Obviously we won't be too specific, but some general pointers are probably needed before Bob can start work - mirrored or non-mirrored? How close/big do we want the map (roughly)? Do we want something drawn, or just a touched-up rolled script? How big a role should naval be? How natural/flavorful do we want it? How close are players to each other? How many landmasses are there, and how cohesive are they? And so on.
5. Barbarians/lairs/huts?
What it says on the tin.
And more basically, what are the teams going to be? We've got Eclipse/Kragroth on one, so basically who's timezone fits better with them than with the other two. I don't mind which team I end up on, personally, so unless anyone has a preference (seems unlikely) should we random.org it?

Hello all, Donovan Zoi here, taking over for slowcheetah
Leader/Civ: Napoleon of the Vikings
225 BC
I was pretty excited to check out the latest turn, as it has been awhile since I have played a Pitboss game. The mod loaded up easily and I was ready to inherit this new land.
Demographics
First order of business was to check out the Powergraph and Demographics screens:
![[Image: Civ4ScreenShot3048.jpg]](http://i1263.photobucket.com/albums/ii621/DonovanZoi/Civ4ScreenShot3048.jpg)
![[Image: Civ4ScreenShot3047.jpg]](http://i1263.photobucket.com/albums/ii621/DonovanZoi/Civ4ScreenShot3047.jpg)
OK so we were 9th and 10th in many categories. I think we can rebound from this a bit. I am a bit concerned that Gawdzak has been scaling the military powergraph, especially after just learning that my predecessor had attacked him recently.
I think this is the city all the fuss was about, and it is certainly heavily guarded now.
![[Image: Civ4ScreenShot3060.jpg]](http://i1263.photobucket.com/albums/ii621/DonovanZoi/Civ4ScreenShot3060.jpg)
Cities
Next I wanted to see how competitive we had been in building cities. Of the 5 civs I knew, most of them were at 9 cities (just like us) give or take a few. But Gawdzak had already built an impressive 17 cities by this point! I was starting to see a pattern here.
slowcheetah had two Settlers en route and another two being completed in the two largest cities, Surf n' Turf and Nidaros. And even with that sense of vigilance, there were still about 10 possible city locations still available on the mainland!
![[Image: Civ4ScreenShot3059.jpg]](http://i1263.photobucket.com/albums/ii621/DonovanZoi/Civ4ScreenShot3059.jpg)
Civics
Civics were right on the money, with HR, Slavery and OR in place. Caste System was now available, but I was nowhere ready to adopt that yet, if at all. Of my 9 cities, many were quite small and needed infrastructure.
Religion
I was delighted to see that we had founded Judaism back in 1600 BC, and that a Priest was slowly adding GP points toward our upcoming shrine. However, I also learned that only 3 of our 9 cities had yet to adopt our religion, and that we had not even converted yet!
Big Picture
It was pretty apparent that slowcheetah managed to capture as much real estate as possible to keep it from getting poached by anyone else. I am also sure that the recent war with our powerful neighbors to the east may have also pushed back other priorities temporarily.
After reviewing the entire save and the state of our nation, these were the actions I took in my first turn:
1. Replaced both Settler builds with a Library and a Jewish Missionary.
2. Replaced all Granary builds with Trading Posts as I intend to whip both for each smaller city.
3. Replaced Wealth with a barracks build in Haithabu, in anticipation of a possible attack from HitAnyKey once I build a city (from one of my en route Settlers) in their back yard that captures both Stone and Marble.
4. Set research to IW, which I should get in 5 turns at 50% research (-4gpt).
5. Though it may be premature by a turn or two, converted to Judaism as a symbolic gesture recognizing the change of guard.
My top priorities now are:
1. Getting religion to all cities, smaller ones first.
2. Preparing for possible threats from the NW and East.
3. Whipping TPs and Granaries in smaller cities.
4. Building a few more workers. We have 9 workers for 9 cities currently.
5. Building Galleys for exploration. There is a "new world" to our west with barbarian warriors visibly wandering around.
6. Investigating possible resource trades.
That's all for now! Let's see what the next turn brings.......

AKA Smilies. Because VB standard & Diablo sprites aren't enough.
Here.
Just right-click on one, copy the url, and paste it into image tags.
They aren't all work-safe though, so employ discretion, etc. etc.

And...we're full! Everyone is of course still free to register their interest as an alternate (we needed one last year).
Hi all,
I've tried to ping Scooter to take the lead on organizing this, but I think he's pretty busy off-forum.
Since we're now officially past the first preseason game I figure it's high time to get this thread created and see if we can't get to 10-12 players again this year.
So who's in?

What additional bonus(es) should Summoner get? |

I've seen a number of suggestions posted about how to buff the Summoner trait; I've compiled some of them into this poll. Feel free to add some more of your own.
Vote for any you would like to see implemented- assume that all options would be mutually exclusive. If you think that more than one should be added, say so here.
I should be able to add more options to the poll if necessary.

This thread is for unified announcements regarding all the Pitbosses I host (power failures, Windows Updates, hardware-related upgrades in the hosting company, etc).
I will post in this thread only if something occurs that relates to ALL the games I am hosting, and will continue to use the game-specific tech threads for posts related to the individual games.
The following people have been granted full access to the server via Teamviewer, and also has access to the admin password of the games so they can reload/start the games in case I am not available:
* Spacetyrantxenu
* Grimace
