  Civ4 windowed mode problem
Posted by: Jowy - January 18th, 2013, 12:10 - Forum: Civilization General Discussion - Replies (9)

I play Civ4 in windowed mode. Sometimes it goes back to full screen and removes all saved information, like name, last map setup, direct IP etc. Then it takes a couple of attempts to put back to windowed mode. Has anyone had the same problem and how did you fix it?

Description:

Mostly Harmless and I just concluded a short lived duel (he walked into my capital before I could get a warrior built) and have decided we'd both like to play another PBEM but would like to increase player size to be 4-5 while keeping the "spirit" of a duel. That is, we'd like to have a casual yet committed PBEM game. We are aware that "casual but committed" is a difficult line to walk. Casual means that we don't expect to play 5 turns a day, but committed means we do expect to play 1 turn a day. Casual means that we're most interested in a fun experience but committed means we do want to win and will play well. So, we're looking for 2-3 other players who would be interested in a similar experience. While we do not intend to be mean or elitist, we will reserve the right to only accept other players who we believe can play "casual but committed."

Would anyone like to play in Democracy Game 1?
Posted by: TheHumanHydra - January 16th, 2013, 11:14 - Forum: Civilization General Discussion - Replies (5)

Hello, everyone. HitAnyKey, Lord Parkin, and I play on team Menagerie-trois in Democracy Game 1, and we would like some help! The game is at turn 100, so it's in a relatively well-developed state, with no clear winner yet. We have been victorious in an early-game war, and the world is presently in a state of peace - or is it cold war? Help us guide the Animal Kingdom to destiny!

If you would like to join us, the Democracy Game 1 forum is here: http://realmsbeyond.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?fid=49. Sign up under Forum Access!

Assassin in the Palace - take 2
Posted by: Bigger - January 15th, 2013, 14:48 - Forum: Werewolf Archives - Replies (52)

ok, here we go. we played this game during the marathon that was ww16, and it went quite well. The town narrowly won, with the Assassin (scooter) narrowing the king down to 2 targets and picking the wrong one, and much fun was had by all!

Let's try it again! The game will start 2 days after ww19 ends (so any players still alive in that game should feel free to join). It will run alongside the signup thread for ww20, and should end well before ww20 starts.

AITP is ww lite - there are no power roles, no night phases, and only one scum. Also it should move along much quicker.
the first game (and rules) can be found here:
http://realmsbeyond.net/forums/showthread.php?tid=5480

A more detailed explanation of the rules and basic strategy can be found here:
http://wiki.mafiascum.net/index.php?titl...the_Palace

I think the format we used last time worked just fine (24 hour day lynch phase, again with no night phase) and will ensure a fast, fun game smile.

GM:

Please note we need a GM so I can play smile Preferrably someone not interested in playing. You don't have to do much - random.org a king, random.org an assassin, then everyone else is a guard. Then let us know soon after the lynch deadline if we got the assassin or a guard. Flavor is not required (feel free if you wish though).

FFH , Understanding a civs strength.
Posted by: Ryan - January 15th, 2013, 13:57 - Forum: Civilization General Discussion - Replies (7)

I am going to random and try a civilization at noble. After watching some of Sullas videos and abit about how to scout and so on. I just wanted help in understanding to play a civilization or how to play a civilization while focusing on its strenght + the power of the different religions. I got Luchipriup* mind spelling*. I had wine and corn so i reserached farming. I had a nice amount of hills so i went mining. I got exploration from a hut. I went ancient spirit + mysticisim to start moving towards RoK. I saw the beakers on Rok and decided to go masonry first. So that I am a tech closer to the hero. I am not sure how to play the civ thou.

Edit : I went animal husbandry before Masonry since the city I was going to build had cows as the food source.

Edit 2 : I deleated this thread from the gaming table since I meant to do it here and did a mistake and posted it there frown

RBP9 IT and Tech Issues Thread
Posted by: sunrise089 - January 14th, 2013, 21:07 - Forum: Pitboss 9 - Replies (714)

This is the IT and Tech Issues Thread for RBP9. The planning thread can be found here.

The game is now live. If this is your first time connecting please read this entire post carefully. Text in Red will be of interest to veterans.

Access the game via DirectIP connection to sunrise089.dyndns.org:2061. No password is needed (nor will one permit a successful connection) when connecting to the game. Make 100% sure there are no spaces in the field or you'll get an error. Spaces love to crop up unexpectedly, so please double-check this before posting that you can't connect.

The first time a player logs into the game they will be asked to set and confirm a password. This is non-trivial to change, so please make sure you know what it is, can remember it, etc.

In-game you can play as normal. This game is played via simultaneous turns, and you can queue unit actions and builds like normal, even after you end turn. I get asked almost every game, so I'll note you press TAB to chat in-game. When you're done playing please log out via Exit to Main Menu, not Exit to Desktop (it creates connectivity/lag issues).

I have set a 48 hour timer per team for the first turn. Starting next turn the timer drops to __ hours (approximating __ real life hours). In the future the timer will be tweaked according to the wishes of the players.

This game uses Civstats to track the turns and other info. This game is here. If you want to register via Civstats and claim your civ the password for each civ is "sirian."

From now on, please let me know if you have any technical concerns in this thread. I can be reached infrequently via forum PM, and easily via email at sunrise089 at gmail dot com and IM at sunrise089 on either AIM or GChat.
