Adventure Fifty-Four: Hill Valley - CLOSING DAY
Posted by: T-hawk - August 6th, 2012, 21:10 - Forum: Civilization General Discussion - Replies (23)

[SIZE="6"]Adventure Fifty-Four: Hill Valley[/SIZE]

Sponsor: T-hawk
Opening Date: Monday, August 6, 2012
Duration: Five Weeks
Map Script: Custom Continents, customized
Game Speed: Normal

Difficulty: Monarch
Civilization: Khmer
Leader: Roosevelt
World Size: Standard
Opponents: Six
Victory: Any
Options: No Tech Trading, No Random Events, Unrestricted Leaders

[attach]2650[/attach]

Scenario: We bring you another game where the variant is an unusual map. Every land tile is a hill! The AIs will be dealing with the same condition in their land. Oceans exist as normal.

[attach]2651[/attach]

Scoring: Scoring is optional. You can play just for the wacky map experience if you like. If you want to compete for scoring, keep track of the following dates and information. Each of the following categories is scored competitively.

10 points - First place
8 points - Second place
6 points - Third place
4 points - Fourth place
3 points - Fifth place
2 points - Sixth place
1 point - Seventh place

- Fastest to research Machinery

- Fastest to research Replaceable Parts

- Fastest to own a size 15 city

- Fastest to build any world wonder other than Stonehenge/Oracle

- Fastest to build any world wonder of at least 550 hammers (such as Sankore, Sistine Chapel, Notre Dame, Taj Mahal)

- Most population by 1 AD (the scoreboard mouseover for population points, not the demographics population)

- Most population by 1500 AD

- Fastest to produce 88 beakers per turn. To qualify for this, you must actually produce 88 or more beakers - any scientists or Research builds must actually run for one turn. What counts is your beaker production shown on-screen, so before multipliers for devaluation and prerequisites. Take a screenshot and then end turn without making any further changes. Deficit research is okay as long as you have the cash to pay the deficit.

Add 20 points for any victory.

If you win the game before achieving a goal, the following rules apply. You score using the date or population of your victory to a maximum of third place, and you don't "push down" other players' results. Example: You win in 1600 AD before researching Replaceable Parts. The fastest three players reached RP in 1550 AD, 1650 AD, and 1750 AD. You score 6 points for a "phantom" third-or-better place, while the 1650 AD player scores 8 points for second place and the 1750 AD player scores for third place. The intent is to avoid late game milking (you get a good score rather than having to play a won game to Rep Parts) but also to avoid a very fast finish disrupting the scoring for other players.

Closing Date: Monday, September 10, 2012. Reports due by the end of Tuesday September 11, your local time, for official scoring.

  Relative strength of infantry
Posted by: Anthony - August 6th, 2012, 11:51 - Forum: Master of Magic - Replies (4)

I actually have a combat simulator (which works a bit differently than Serena's), so I thought I'd show some numbers:

This is a comparison of swordsmen, since every race has them, and uses a logic of 'trade attacks until one dies, then queue the next combatant' until one side has 1,000 casualties (as this is statistical, it can have mild errors, which is why some races have a ratio other than 1 against themselves). I don't include dark elves because my simulator doesn't handle ranged combat. This does include regeneration but assumes no kiting, so trolls and barbarians are underrated (draconians, otoh, are assumed to always be the attacker against races that don't have thrown weapons). On the table, the row is the attacking race, the column is the defending race, and the entry is the ratio of defender casualties to attacker casualties -- i.e. 0.67 for BA vs TR means 0.67 trolls died per barbarian casualty. The average is the average number of foes killed, across all races.

Comparison at Regular level of experience:

Code:

  Dungeon Defenders
Posted by: Dantski - August 5th, 2012, 19:23 - Forum: The Gaming Table - No Replies

Hey guys, a friend picked up DD a week ago and we've been playing it most days around 9-12pm BST. Our normal 3rd cog isn't on at the same time recently so I was wondering if anyone here was interested in playing with us. 1-2 people would be great, experience with the game is certainly not necessary.

p.s. This is not with Mukha who I played Pitboss 3 with (because he's the one not getting on at same time heh) but with someone else who is very chilled out.

Probably not that interesting for younger gamers, but for anyone who played "Giana Sisters" 25 years ago on the legendary wink Commodore C64, this might be very interesting:

  C&D request for turn players
Posted by: Catwalk - August 3rd, 2012, 02:06 - Forum: TEAM (Team Excellent Anger Management) - Replies (4)

I'm slowly gearing up to start being useful, and I would like a copy of the victory screen each turn from now on along with demographics. If the top cities screen has anything useful I'd like that one as well. If you want me to do C&D on the capital of the pirates, I'll be needing their espionage screen. If you have any specific requests, let me know. I plan on tracking population units, techs and military primarily. Thanks!

Okay, honestly? I like the color. It was between the Greeks and America. I wonder if I should have taken Americans...

Here's the very very public start:

First post traditional filler. As I always seem to do, I'll just post webcomics to fill space. This time, Olympic Edition.
