Dear all,
It's a bit late, but I made the necessary revisions to MOM2.0 to eliminate the Naga-Wind Mastery "bug." No other changes were made, really, except some very minor adjustments (such as to the help file).
It took me a little longer to post this because I had to redo the entire readme file (MOM2.0R) - after four years I had lost the original document. It has been streamlined a bit; it should read more clearly. Despite my efforts, there may be errors in translation or ambiguities, so the original MOM2.0 pdf has been included in the .rar file.
The link:

ILS and others - could you please update your links? [I'll leave the link here temporarily so that forum users can access it]. The cat is out of the bag, so to speak, but it would be nice to have this revised version available online for those who want to take a look at it.
It would nice to sticky (?) the thread with the new link(s).
With the new exciting Insecticide (1.40) engine, there are already tons of great new mods out there. Hopefully a balanced game, with varying strategies and tactics, can be put together. I look forward to seeing where the new era of Master of Magic takes us!

Victory: Any

Twas' the end of July, the Sun burned hot
The Grinch played Civ, and let his mind rot.
For in the bright light he feared a skin lesion
To abandon his empire would be high treason!
When from behind his dark windows he saw such a sight-
Whoville resplendent with bright Christmas lights!
Mouth agape, he sat all enthralled
At how much their off-season celebration appalled.
"I'm afraid I must bring them both good and bad news"
"The good: they'll be singing! The bad: it's the Blues."
"July is for grilling, not bedecking the town"
"So it looks like I'll just have to burn it all down."
"I'll see to it that their gifts they bequeath"
"When I raise up my blade from its trembling sheath."
And so soon all of Whoville would come to know fear
Their heads would look good on a holiday spear.

Welcome to FFH Adventure 7! The objective of this scenario is to gather as many pieces of equipment as possible. "Equipment" in Fall From Heaven consists of special immobile units which can be merged with other units and/or cities in order to obtain special benefits (typically in the form of promotions of buildings).
The scoring system for this Adventure is simple. Players are awarded one point for each unique piece of equipment attached to the unit "Max" upon winning any victory condition. Participants will be ranked on reporting day from most to least points. A list of all eligible equipment pieces is included at the end of this post. While any unit may use any piece of equipment, only items worn by Max on the final turn count for scoring, as the Grinch trusts only his faithful steed to hold his ill-garnered gifts. So keep him alive. For ease of scoring purposes, please include a screen cap of your Max unit which shows his promotions at the end of the game (from which the equipment may be easily identified).
There will not be any STARS awarded for this game, in order to keep the scenario design as simple as possible.
With regards to the scenario difficulty level- A few AI have received special bonuses of one variety or another which makes them more competitive than standard Emperor AI. That said, the Adventure is designed to be challenging, but not painfully so. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to participate.
As was the case for previous Bob-spawned Adventures, this scenario has been entirely hand-crafted, and has several significant differences from the average randomly-generated map. There is no guarantee that players will be able to obtain every piece of equipment from the list below, and the permanent loss of certain articles is a possible and natural consequence of the cycle of life.
The Scoring List (equipment listed counts for a single point for each UNIQUE item- no points for duplicates):
Note: Despite functioning similar to equipment, Great Commanders do not count.
Special Cultural Note For Our Non-American Friends: Christmas in July is a semi-common gimmick of retailers to drum up Summer sales. Please join the Grinch in fighting the social blight of runaway consumerism. Thank you.
Closing Day: Monday, September 24, 2012. Reports due by the end of Wednesday, September 26, your local time.

I bought and played Bastion on steam the other day, and I was really impressed, even though it's not really my genre (I'm so bad at timing shots/dodges/etc).
It's an action RPG, but it's not like Diablo - the focus is on being able to play in different ways and not on getting massively stronger. You get 2 weapons and 1 special skill from a pretty large selection, plus (always) a shield that can block attacks and an evasive roll. And X passive skills at level X (1-10). And you go around and kill monsters. A fair amount of customization is available, and the weapons are all pretty different.
The music is great (demand was high enough that they are selling the soundtrack), and overall the ambiance is fantastic. And uh, there's a narrator...
Anyone else given it a try? Opinions?
(Story spoilers in spoiler tags please, though yes I've finished it.)

New Mod I'm playing around with: Goldstarved |

I'm used to being swimming in gold by midgame, and buildings like banks are pretty much ignored. I don't know how playable this mod is, since it's quite severe and I haven't done much testing, but here's a pretty simple poke that makes for some rather real decisions by midgame (I loaded a save game that had an income of 136; it dropped to -10 with significant unrest in cities).
First, change the unrest rates so it's actually tough to maintain a 1.5g tax rate. Using a hex editor, change wizards.exe 30340:
< 0A 00 14 00 1E 00 2D 00 3C 00 4B 00
> 0F 00 1E 00 2D 00 3C 00 4B 00 5A 00
Changes tax rate to 15% per 0.5g (sadly, does not change the menu screen, but it does change the actual unrest levels in game).
Using the tweaker, change builddat.lbx (default rule: 1g upkeep per 1 unit non-gold resource produced; unrest is assumed worth about 4; this is adjusted somewhat for some buildings).
Animist's Guild: upkeep -10 (figures 6 farmers)
Library: upkeep -2
Sage's Guild: upkeep -1
Oracle: upkeep -8
University: upkeep -5
Shrine: upkeep -4
Temple: upkeep -6
Parthenon: upkeep -8
Cathedral: upkeep -10
Granary: cost 100, upkeep -2
Farmer's Market: cost 150, upkeep -3
Forester's Guild: upkeep -5
Builder's Hall: upkeep 0
Miner's Guild: upkeep -6
Incidentally, some columns are wrong on the tweaker ('food' and 'mana' are not, in fact, food and mana; I don't know what they are), but the ones here are safe.

RB NFL Fantasy Football: 2012 season |

Hey all, so we did our first ever RB NFL Fantasy league last year, and it was a lot of fun. We started a bit late last year, so I thought we'd get an earlier start for planning and hopefully get a couple extra signups. We did a 10 team league on ESPN with mostly standard settings, and David Corperial was our winner.
This year, I'd like to see if we can expand to 12 teams, as RB is a bit bigger than last year, and we're starting the planning a bit earlier. This would allow us to do an 11 week regular season with round-robin scheduling, then probably looking at something like a 6-team playoff with the top 2 players getting a bye. Settings would be fairly standard (snake pick, no PPR, inverse standings waivers, etc), and we can quibble over details if we want. We would also aim to have a live draft. The draft would be within a week of the start of the regular season. If you're unable to make it for some reason you can always rank your players for an autopick OR have a friend or another RBer show up and draft for you.
I can add more details later, but I'll go ahead and open the thread up to signups and questions . Don't be afraid to sign up if you've never played before either!
Signups:
1) scooter
2) Brick
3) Sunrise
4) Gaspar
5) David Corperial
6) Twinkletoes
7) Mr. Nice Guy
8) Lewwyn
9) Cyneheard
10) Sir Bruce
11) <open>
12) <open>
We have 2 spots remaining! We also have some interest in co-managers, so if you would like to participate but cannot bear the full load yourself, post here and we'll get you matched up.
Last day to join is Wednesday August 29th
Draft is on August 1st at 11PM EDT (if you're not in the east coast of the US, convert to your local time here: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/converter.html)
