  EitB High to Low SG
Posted by: Brian Shanahan - February 28th, 2012, 14:52 - Forum: Succession Games - Replies (370)

Well I've been threatening to do this for a while, but I finally got around to it, for reals.

I was proposing a High to Low variant SG on EitB around a few threads about a week ago, and I'd like to pursue it further.

So first of all the ground rules:
1) We play all civs we get as if we had them the whole game (well obviously the last one). I want to win this without gimping the AI even more than they gimp themselves. This means, no deleting units, no obvious bad choices for builds, no pulling the WS at the time which helps our next civ best (e.g. pulling sanctuary so that it runs out just after a switch).
2) We have fun. This would be no. 1 only for the extra rule above.
3) Punctuality is nice. CFC games usually run a 24/48 timer rule. I'll not enforce that, but I will be reminding anyone who seems to be running slow with the save.
4) Discussion is nice. If you have a big event happening, and you're not sure how to handle it, it is a team game and the team will help. This of course stretches rule 3 above, as discussion needs time sometimes.
5) I would prefer the game on here. I'm still out with CFC though in extremis I will resurrect my account over there (I still have the details), but will only post in the game over there.

I think that covers ground rules. If anyone has others shout them out.

Now onto the game settings:
1) Emperor.
2) Erebus Continent, with standard settings.
3) Large, with default to default +3 AIs.
4) No Archeron, Yes all other barb heroes.
5) Hell terrain on (though my screenshots will decrease in quality)
6) All lairs huts etc. on
7) All features on.
8) Living world on.
9) Normal speed.

All these are negotiable and extra settings can be added if so desired.

Thirdly Civ and Leader:

I pick random leaders in SP, and have no real preference for this game, as we'll be losing them fairly quickly. If people want specific civs and leaders we can go with them. Otherwise I'll roll a number of random starts and we can vote on the best one.

Finally resources:
Well one really, the previous High to Low game I played over at CFC. Ozbenno linked to two other games in there in post 7.
I'm also a bit rusty on switching dates, and completely in the dark about whether EitB has changed these mechanics.

But anyway enough of me rambling. Let's open the game for participants.

  Favourite roles/heroes?
Posted by: uberfish - February 26th, 2012, 07:27 - Forum: League of Legends - Replies (10)

Just curious what everyone prefers at the moment

Jungle: Shyvana, Udyr, Lee Sin. I like the early game decision making inherent in this role

Mage: Cassiopeia, Ryze. For their sustained damage style which I prefer to dropping one combo and waiting for spells to come off cooldown. I still like Anivia but don't play her very often now because people using flash/jump skills to get over a perfectly placed wall is frustrating

Top: mostly the same heroes I'd run in jungle + gangplank.

Support/Ranged AD: I often find this lane to be more stressful than fun due to the way it plays in the current meta, but Sona/Ashe/Vayne are my current favourites here

  Borderlands 2
Posted by: WarBlade - February 25th, 2012, 19:05 - Forum: Off Topic - Replies (7)

With the release of the "Borderlands 2 Launch Date Trailer" last week we finally got to see the four character classes in action.

Axton
Commando. General combat specialist and and evolution of the Soldier.

Maya
Siren. More of a sorceress than Lilith was, Maya appears to be a character able to control the general flow of battle.

Salvador
Gunzerker. Rough, tough and can dual wield big guns for a double dose of mayhem.

Zer0
Assassin. Deploy a decoy and slip into a stealth mode for either melee range or sniping range spike damage.

Get ready to joy puke your face off! yikes
Roll on September!

If you are a player of this game (PBEM33 if you forgot where you are) then leave now. This thread covers the map production and will contain heavy spoilers. Looking at the map beforehand will only spoil your own fun and won't give you any advantage at all.

We're live! Sunrise is hosting at: sunrise089.dyndns.org:2057

'lo all. So, dedlurking from the sidelines has made me realize that I'd love to play in something similar to PB7 myself, and I'm reasonably sure some others might be interested too. I'm not overly burdened with time, but a light, fun game on a large scale would be right up my alley. Basically, looking at it set up like a fun SP game, but in Pitboss format. Anyone interested?

Settings we're looking at:

Quote:RB Mod

Big and Small script, with islands amidst continents, low sea level.
Large, ideally 10 or so players)
Random leader/civs
Random events on
Huts on
Barbs on
CTON (AI diplo only)
Quick speed
Tech trading ON (PBEM 20-esque)
Prince or Monarch difficulty
Map checked to ensure iron/copper/horse within ~12 tiles of start
Map checked, at least 4-food land tile added to capital(plains deer, dry rice, etc)
Double moves are okay, but wait 2 hours in between turns (al la PB7)

Player list:
Quote:Commodore
Krill
Cyneheard
Ceiliazul
Dazed/Scooter
Pindicator/Rego
Azza
BrickAstley
Yuri
Plako

We'd also need a mapchecker and a host, should a volunteer step forward. I'd really hope an admin wouldn't be needed, but that might be overly optimistic.
