Congratulations on the win, Selrahc!
Even though Maksim seems to be away from the forums, I'd like to thanks him for the map. It was very challenging, but also rewarding, since the better strategies weren't obvious.
I'd like to thank all the players and lurkers. Special thanks to my ded-lurker Ravus Sol.
I'll probably make a more complete analysis later, but I'm pretty happy with my play here. My biggest mistake was not seeing how powerful the Infernals would be in the game. Lack of diplomacy was also a mistake. And I have to work on my mid-game skills, since I tend to stagnate after a while.
Anyway, good game, everyone!

Civ Clan Championship 78 (MP) - This Weekend |

Despite the fact that the competitive real-time civ mp scene is not what it once was, some of the remaining players are playing in a "ccc" (civ clan championship) this weekend.
I plan to play if and when I can, largely for nostalgia's sake as I'm badly out of practice...and that from my mediocre peak form. However since this is a smaller and slightly more casual event, and since no advance signups are required, I wondered if any RB players wanted to join me for any of the team events.
The first three events were today, but my work schedule kept me away. Here's the schedule for Saturday. Sunday events are based on qualifying on Friday+Saturday, but since turnout is low it's possible simply playing a single event could qualify you.
Event 4 - Industrial (3 players) - Saturday 0500 EST - 1000 CET
Event 5 - Ironman (solo full-length game) - Saturday 0800 EST - 1300 CET
Event 6 - Renaissance (3 players) - Saturday 0900 EST - 1400 CET
Event 7 - Random Era (2 players) - Saturday 1200 EST - 1700 CET
Event 8 - Ancient (2 players) - Saturday at 1300 EST - 1800 CET
Event 9 - CTON - Saturday 1530 EST - 2030 CET
Event 10 - Classical (3 players) - Saturday 1800 EST - 2300 CET
Keep in mind we're likely to get destroyed by the Russian and French ladder players who have continued to play competitively and ignored civ5. And, keep in mind there are some specific rules and a mod detailed here http://www.civplayers.com/index.php?sect...pic=9920.0. Finally, I think all players need to be signed up to the civ ladder (free, http://www.civplayers.com/index.php?section=home) prior to the start of each event.
If after all that you're interested, post here

Simultaneous pitboss idea (for later) |

I don't think we can handle another large game right now but I thought I'd post this for discussion anyway.
Pitboss games have this problem where timing is meaningful. You can legislate turn splits but then it gets messy. I have an idea about this.
Everyone gets grouped into "A" or "B". As play in the first half of the turn, Bs play only in the second half. When an A and a B make contact they must immediately declare war on each other. As may never declare war on other As, and Bs may never declare war on other Bs.
Therefore no one may ever move at the same time that someone they're at war with may move. This limits turnplaying races to settling races between peaceful players and potentially races to be the guy who gets to kill a vulnerable enemy, which is inconsequential enough that no further rules are needed.
At the same time it's a potentially interesting variant, essentially bringing the Permanent War or Peace game setting to MP.

Hey all, I'm working on a new map concept and I was wondering if anyone wanted to play on it; the basic idea is a tight, tiny AW PBEM with 4-6 players (if larger number, then a small map) with players restricted to no more than three cities each.
Currently, I'm thinking of setting it at Emperor or Immortal difficulty and raging barbarians, but in addition to the normal starting stuff, two CG3 archers for each player. Any interest?
Cautiously interested:
Quote:Zero
AutomatedTeller
Scooter
Krill
We bit of a green/vet divide here, I'd be willing to try balancing map-wise, but ideally this should probably be two game.

Moin Moin,
my 2nd PBEM, this time with all Top Tier Leader picks.
My picks were:
1. Cardith Lorda
2. Arendel Phaedra
3. Mahala
Mahala would have been funny. But with this picks I'm kinda glad to have Cardith.
In fact I never even played Kuriotates, but it seemed a good leader for what I want to do. Which is basically focus on Coruption of Spirit which I'll pop and then go and produce a lot of Diseased Corpses and Ritualists. I plan on expanding fast. Since this is basic FFH2 Financial is the obvious choise.
My main questions are:
Should I use WS early to save me monuments in my first 2-3 cities?
Should I research Mysticism first and go for God King + Elder Council + Sage + Academy a few turns later. Or should I go Agriculture -> Education.
We start with a worker so getting worker techs early seems better. Thats why I voted against a starting worker btw. It makes anything but going Agriculture kinda dumb, doesn't it?
Expansive is a little weaker cause we got two cities right away? I don't think so.
EDIT: Hmm you can actually lightbulb CoS and Priesthood. So if I really want it I can try to get 1 sage 2 prophets and rush priesthood, which would leave me with str. 6 DC's and a lot of collateral. That might be just enough to make a neighbor crumble.
Picks
HidingKneel: Arendel Phaedra of the Ljosalfar - Elven Economy strong in lategame. Hard to attack due to WS
Weezel: Varn Gosam of the Malakim - Top pick, can do a lot but with Spiritual he might want to do disciple units
Tholal: Arturus Thorne of the Khazad - Somehow regarded as top pick cause of the traits I suppose but the civilisation mechanic seems hindering rather than good.
Kyan: Rhoanna of the Hippus - Of course, thats why wanted her baned and now in the hand of the most experienced player, great.
Ellimist: Jonas Endain of the Clan of Embers - Regarded as top pick. Still don't understand why. WS early is shity cause you can't support units, WS mid is shity cause the units aren't that strong and it crashes your economy, now at least you can pay for the troops. But massing them and attacking takes ages. Endgame, he is barbarian. His hero can flip barbarian cities, not like taking them without losing any units is any problem by the time you can build him.
