If you don't want to spoiled for PBEM 34 (players/dedlurkers) STAY AWAY!!

This is a thread for Elizabeth of North America, who's anthem is:

My country, 'tis of thee,
Long live our noble Queen,
Of thee I sing;
Send her victorious,
Land of the pilgrims' pride,
Long to reign over us:
Let freedom ring!

All other lurkers, welcome smile

[SPOILERS] - Cyneheard of Macedonian Rome

Hey, look, I remembered to start the thread with [SPOILERS] this time!

Here's some appropriate filler text:

Ninth came Teucer, stretching his curved bow.
He stood beneath the shield of Ajax, son of Telamon.
As Ajax cautiously pulled his shield aside,
Teucer would peer out quickly, shoot off an arrow,
hit someone in the crowd, dropping that soldier
right where he stood, ending his life—then he’d duck back,
crouching down by Ajax, like a child beside its mother.
Ajax would then conceal him with his shining shield.

Thanks, Wikipedia!

So basically, I was just so sick of all the crap Brennus was getting that I had to make a game tailored to his strengths.

[SPOILERS] scooter's AW lunacy - De Gaulle of Native Americans
Posted by: scooter - March 19th, 2012, 12:16 - Forum: PBEM34 Veterans - Replies (72)

Screenshot please smile. Explanation of my stupid picks will come later.

I'll let insanity wolf introduce my pick...

Anyways, this game promises to be all kinds of wacky. Emp raging barbs... Always War... Mongolia, Native Americans, and Mali taken while Byz sits unpicked... Lincoln wasn't picked... That's right, LINCOLN wasn't picked for a format in which he was probably the strongest choice in a vacuum... And the best part, I get 3 cities. So since this promises to be a wacky game, my theme is pretty simple. One city for each of these guys to govern:

lol Yep, gonna be that kinda game.

  PBEM 34: Tech Thread Greens
Posted by: Serdoa - March 19th, 2012, 10:58 - Forum: PBEM34 - Replies (166)

I thought I'll better make a new one, so that the other one is not clustered from both groups and people are overlooking stuff. Players right now:

Automated Teller
Zero 1627
Twinkletoes
Serdoa

I think the only thing to choose was the difficulty (and civ/leader of course), and I would suggest we go with Emperor, same as the Vets did. If something else needs to be decided I am sure Commodore will let us know.

Picking Order

Automated Teller
TT
Zero
Serdoa

Please also mention your playing window (in GMT) and if you'd rather play a 4CC (so that National Wonders are possible) a 3CC without National Wonders or a 3CC with Cyneheards Mod (making National Wonders available despite only 3 cities). If you have an issue with the difficulty, mention it as well.

Picks so far

AT: Elizabeth (Phi/Fin) / Native Americans (Dog Soldier [Axe] / Totem Pole [Monument]) ... 2300 - 0300
TT: Washington (Exp/Cha) / - Maya (Holkan [Spear] / Ball Court [Colosseum]) ... 1000 - 1300 and 2200 - 2400
Zero: Brennus (Spi/Cha) / - China (Cho-Ko-Nu [X-Bow] / Pavillion [Theatre]) ... 0630 - 0800
Serdoa: Lincoln (Cha/Phi) / - Mongolia (Keshik [HA] / Ger [Stable]) ... 1630 - 2130

And Twinkletoes is up to choose civ/leader and let us know his playing window.

edit: Play order seems to be AT -> Zero -> TT -> Serdoa. Anyone sees a better one?

  Most Up-to-date MP Duel Settings

If anyone is interested/curious:

Quote:The Classic Singles Clan Tourney
Players: 1v1
Era : Draft Era - Player decide which era they want to play BEFORE choosing their leaders & Civs (no bans). The player on the TOP of the tourney table chose the first era to REMOVE (=he doesn't want to play), then the second player removes one other era, etc. When the players left 6 eras out, they can go on to play the (7th) remaining era.
Map: FM Mirror Inland Sea1 (http://downloads.civplayers-files.com/ci...nd_Sea1.py). Tiny size, Low sea. Reflection type
Victory: 1-city ON
Pick: Yes, with unrestricted leaders on. India banned as civ.

Timer: Speed 3 - Switch to Speed 4 if Reny or earlier
Other : Substitution not allowed
Other : Planes & Spies banned

  Terra Nova
Posted by: Ruff_Hi - March 17th, 2012, 09:56 - Forum: Off Topic - Replies (23)

Did anyone here watch Terra Nova? FOX has announced that it will not be picking up season 2 (as per usual for FOX).

That leaves us to think about what happened in the season 1 finale. The people in the past successfully repelled an invasion from the future ... and they also recovered something that the people in the future were trying to return to the future ... it looked like the figure head off an old ship.

(illustration, not the item shown on the show)

What can this be? My thinking is that it is off a ship that was lost in the Bermuda Triangle with the show saying that (somehow) the events of the Bermuda Triangle are related to time travel.
