Selection has been done and we got Gandhi of Korea. Korea's UU is Hwacha a catapult with bonus against melee and UB is Seowon a University that gives 35% science rate increase instead of normal 25%. They aren't exceptionally strong, but not that bad either. Philosophical gets a bonus for building Universities so we might get opportunity for a very early Oxford.
I don't know how well Gandhi's traits work in MP game (Trying out is part of the fun). He is well suited for running Specialist economy and keeping up with others with bulbing and trading techs, but here tech trading is off. I've a feeling we'll need also some commerce cities especially, if we can't get pyramids.
Concerning possible religion shot in the beginning. Following nations alongside with us start with Mystisicm: HRE, Inca, India, Byzantium. There are couple of too many for my liking so I suggest we won't start with Polytheism or Meditation. This naturally depends on what we see 1st, but preliminarily I think our early tech path should be:
Agri or Fishing -> BW
After this we should decide, if we want to take a shot at Oracle or go towards Writing.
We could start with worker or warrior depending on the improvable tiles. If we go for Fishing 1st, Warrior is probably better.

If you're playing in this game, please press 'Back' now and click on your own thread. Otherwise, I welcome your input, questions and thoughts, will attempt to respond; and hope that your time here will be interesting and/or entertaining.
With that out of the way...
Hello, I'm LiPing, and I have the dubious distinction (according to Sullla) of being the first person to require a thread to be deleted in RB history. My apologies for being so disappointing
Okay, more seriously. I've avoided botching up the thread title this time (I hope), so here we are, as Shaka of Rome.

Okay, so I saw this link to an online comicbook that I've never seen before. It looks somewhat rooted in WarCraft and has some cute humour...

Civilisation. Don't be hasty! |

I feel I have a reasonable grasp of the fundamentals involved in Civilisation... not perfect, by any means, but I read a lot of forum posts and game reports if I'm bored at work!
However, I usually find myself rushing when I'm playing. Sometimes this leads to hasty decisions. Often miss the ideal point to whip, switch tiles or similar. Occasionally found myself missing big stuff, such as 'We have enough on our hands' or a newly AI researched tech.
The way I was playing I found I had an easy time at Monarch, but was struggling somewhat at Emperor.
A while ago I started using the BUFFY mod for one of the Civfanatics Game of the month events. Using it I've won a couple of enjoyable single player Emperor games. But I don't feel like it's any particular improvement in my game. In fact, it might be making things worse. It simply masking my weak spots with it's handy little notifications and piles of information.
Anyway, onwards to the point of this post!
Seems lots of the reports here feature calm, considered play and it looks like fun!
Does anyone have any tips for slowing down and playing a more thoughtful game?
Any other random thoughts?
Cheers!

******SPOILER THREAD******
Welcome all to Athlete4life10 and Kalin's team. We are Willem van Oranje (Cre/Fin) of the brave Ottoman Empire(UU = Janissary, UB = Hammam).
If you are a player of the RBPB#2 game then don't read any further and please exit out of the thread!
If you are a lurker, you're more then welcome here, just please don't provide any information that might be considered spoilerish from another teams thread.
This thread will be used to update our team's game, thoughts and discussions we have to direct our civilization to victory! Well atleast to outlasting a few.
My leader selection was based around the Fin trait. With no tech trading that would be even more valuable. I chose Cre as I hate to manually border pop. I was very close to selecting Pacal II and I even considered Huyana Capac but in the end Willem won out.
I chose the leader by myself as Kalin was not yet a member of our team but following is the discussion we had on choosing our civ.

Ahoy mateys. This is the spoiler thread for Peter of Byzantium
captained by regoarrarr, sunrise089 and darrelljs, not necessarily in that order
If you are one of the other players, this is not the place to be.
And since I see that Kodii and those other scoundrels already have 18 posts, more information will follow in subsequent posts.
