The Perpy Traitors- Selrahc, Sareln, Black Sword and Bob
Posted by: Selrahc - October 28th, 2013, 09:52 - Forum: Erebus in the Balance PBEM XXXI - Replies (192)

Why are we the Perpy Traitors? Because we are going to murder us some Perpentachs. (Or alternatively: Because PUN)

10 turn stretches seems the least likely to result in confusion on switchover dates. If we mess with the schedule, I can see a lot more confusion about what turn to play to.

I'm a little rusty at the moment, so I'm probably not the best person to do the Turn 1 "Where is the capital going to go" decision. But I will if nobody else wants to.

Exclamation Hiding Doctor Yellow Mist: 4 heads, one body
Posted by: Mardoc - October 28th, 2013, 08:54 - Forum: Erebus in the Balance PBEM XXXI - Replies (177)

So, we don't know who we are, and it doesn't matter cause the only thing we can legally discuss is player logistics.

Personal preferences: I'd rather not go first, I'm at an exciting time in one of my other games. Don't care if I'm 2nd or 3rd.

I want to do the random 8-12 turn thing, at least to start off. I really want to be able to witness a leader change in a neighbor, and that seems the only way. It's straightforward. Go to here: http://www.random.org/integers/ , type in 1 number between 8 and 12, hit 'get numbers', and you have your answer.

I don't use e-mail notifications at all, so I'm happy with putting everything in spoilers here. Does that work for both of you, or should we branch out to three threads? I think one thread will be simpler and easier to read at the end, but it's less important than sticking within the no spoiler rules.

Anything else to mention? I can't think of anything myself.

  Another Ruff pbem (CFC) Report
Posted by: Ruff_Hi - October 28th, 2013, 05:10 - Forum: Civ4 Event Reports - Replies (15)

I've just started a story telling pbem game. It is hosted at CFC and the 'DM' is Luthor_Saxburg. He has set up an interesting backstory and the game is certainly playing out that way (only played 2 turns so far).

The report is available at my web site.

Team [REDACTED] as [REDACTED] of [REDACTED] [SPOILERS]
Posted by: Qgqqqqq - October 28th, 2013, 02:39 - Forum: Erebus in the Balance PBEM XXXI - Replies (165)

Well this looks like a fun team, should have some good discussion.
I think our strongest point needs to be our ability to communicate with each other - as PB4's team 4 showed, we really need to make sure we function as one coherent whole, which means good communication and endless discussion smile
To kick it off, I think we should aim for the [REDACTED], as they have good synergy with our teams skillsets, paticularly if we can leverage the [REDACTED] for an [REDACTED]-game lead. We should make sure to follow [REDACTED]'s example from PBEM [REDACTED], paticularly the bit where [HE/SHE/IT] took advantage of the [REDACTED] to perform that best of strategies,

posting random youtube links at every opportunity.
wink

First things first, anyone is welcome in this thread! Lurkers, opponents - even mapmakers! (Okay the team-mates can read along too alright), but only lurkers should open the spoilers (which should be largely serious from hereon in).

By the way, for whoever rolls the start/civilizations (Merovech?) those should be spoilered too. Later players should have NO IDEA what is going on!
Yeah, this game is gonna be ridiculous popcorn popcorn popcorn

Edit: For those viewing this later, the lack of images is because dropbox changed their functionality. This is a common problem across the fora.

[LURKERS] Sweet 16: Civ Party Fun Time and Philosophical Debate
Posted by: BRickAstley - October 28th, 2013, 01:06 - Forum: Pitboss 16 - Replies (638)

16:

For its "coming of age" significance, this age has inspired the titles of many songs, such as "Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen", "You're Sixteen", "Sweet Sixteen", "U16 Girls" "Sweet Little Sixteen" and "Sixteen Candles"

There are sixteen pawns in a chess set and each player in a chess game starts with sixteen pieces.

The number 16 is the symbol of the Day of solidarity with political prisoners and victims of the Lukashenka regime in Belarus, which is commemorated on 16th of every months by demonstrations and flash mobs worldwide

In the story of the Sleeping Beauty, a spell is placed on the princess that when she reaches her 16th birthday, she will "prick her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel and die"

There are sixteen different personality types in the Myers-Briggs classification system

16 is the base of the hexadecimal number system, which is used extensively in computer science

Oh yes, and this is where we can talk about the Pitboss 16 game too.

No players, of course.

(spoilers) wetbandit proposes his own civ4 mod
Posted by: wetbandit - October 28th, 2013, 00:53 - Forum: Pitboss 16 - Replies (69)

Unless you're here to improve my klout rating, get out!

Settings (as of 11/09/2013):

Settings:
Game speed Normal
No elephants
No blockades
Everyone starts with scout

Barbs ON
Huts OFF
Events OFF
Corps on/off? OFF
Vassals on/off? OFF
Espionage? Passive Only
Tech trading? OFF
Method to pick civ/leader? Normal Snake Pick
Diplomacy? AI diplo
See the start before picking leader/civ YES
Bans? Nukes, India, Inca, Pacal, Willian.

Serdoa has offered to make the map so we will play on that. This is an idea of map:
1) Several continents, no one isolated.
2) Non-mirrored starts.
3) Due to 2: Balanced but I can't guarantee that one does not feel that the grass on the other pasture is greener.
3.1) Balanced meaning equal number of happy (but not necessarily the same), close approx. of one of copper, horse or iron - stone and marble completely random via random.org giving me a tile-number to put it and it be put on the nearest land-tile.
3.2) Check to have late game strategic resources available, but not necessarily next to your capital.
4) NO pre-placed improvements or similar stuff.
5) Relatively natural looking though I reserve the right that not all of the map will, if it is necessary for balance or simply makes for a more interesting (read strategic) game.
6) Circum-nav available.

"Map Size: Large
Difficulty: Prince (Toroid therefore I assumed a little lower would be better)

Also there is no Marble/Stone at all. As that's unusual I think its just fair to tell you."

1.Sevenspirits/Krill - Montezuma of Zulu
2.Zaldax - Huanya Capac of Byzantium
3.Gavagai - Darius I of Aztecs
4.2metraninja - Roosevelt of Sumeria
5.Jowy - Suryavarman II of Persia
6.Dhalphir & Hashoosh - Mansa Musa of Ottomans
7.Gaspar/Noble - Bismarck of Mali
8.Retep - Mehmed of Carthage
9.Kuro - Isabella of China - UP NOW
10.Mikehendi - Elizabeth of France
11.wetbandit - Hannibal of Egypt
12.Goreripper - Zara Yaqob of Greece
