1.31 bugs still not corrected? |

This thread is about the 1.31 bugs, that were not yet corrected in the latest version of Insecticide. That means that only those bugs, that are evincibly present in 1.31, qualify for it. Surely, if you find some 1.31 features suspect for malfunction, you may post here as well.
Please: don't post the crash reports from 1.40 versions here - thanks. They belong to the other MoM - bug reports thread.
- Earthquake bypasses city protection
- Node Auras work on other plane
- Water-walking/pathfinding units cannot use magical roads
Quote:The bug only manifests if the particular wizard had a fight at his fortress, while having over 16384 mana. When he casts a chargeable spell, he ends up with -32878 mana, which does not change anymore. He won't be able to cast SoR at that stage.

Questions from a Diablo noob |

Once stories of the initial launch instability died down, I decided to purchase Diablo 3 and see what all the talk was about. I have never played the previous two games, but have played some other games in the genre such as Torchlight. So I guess I am coming to Diablo by way of its mutant offspring, in a sense.
I decided to start with a barbarian, and have made my way into Act II of Normal so far (just killed Maghda). And I have a bunch of noob questions, from play and from trying to follow the discussions here at RB.
1) I see lots of mention of "champs" and "elites" -- what exactly is meant by this? I have been assuming champs are the extra-tough mobs with the blue-ish glow on them (sort of like a Civ IV unit with a promotion available). What about elites? The game guide mentions champions, rares, and uniques, plus bosses. Bosses I assume are things like the Skeleton King and the Butcher. Are bosses also uniques? Where do "elites" fit in this?
2) Rare items -- do they always suck? I have only found a small number (fewer than 10, still in Act II Normal after all), and of the few which were not specific to other classes most were worse than the minor magical stuff I already had. I read the thread about Blizzard balancing drops to assume use of the auction house, which was disturbing. I want to find or craft my gear myself, I just find the game more fun that way. Am I just completely screwed as a result?
3) Level cap is 60, but I am already level 20 in Act II Normal. I guess the game becomes purely equipment driven once you hit the level cap? When did you reach level 60 (difficulty, act)?
4) Melee vs. ranged fighting -- obviously as a barbarian it is melee (almost) all the way. But I read so many threads about one-shot kills, "if anything touches you you are playing wrong", etc. Are melee characters hopeless as difficulty increases?
5) Treasure goblins -- I love these guys. I just can't resist chasing them down, even though I know it is foolish. Running along, activating multiple mobs, massive fight scenes...great fun. Do others do this, or should I really be leaving these guys alone?
6) Side areas -- I have found a fair number of side areas that don't seem to be connected to the main storyline, sort of mini-dungeons I guess. Are these just around for those who want to clear every corner of every area? Or are they really part of the storyline and I am just somehow missing queues or sections? I have been trying to check everywhere, as I enjoy that style more than ignoring large areas just to chase the quest arrow.
Thanks in advance for any replies. I have been looking forward to Diablo 3 since reading some of Sullla and others' stories of their Diablo 2 variant and hardcore characters, and the discussion post-launch here at RB finally got me to purchase the game. It's been a blast so far, even if I am still in Normal where everything is so weak it dies if you just look at it.

I was replying to a post and something weird happen. my mouse freaked out and my resolution is now bonkers - everything is too big (text, the background, smilies) making a lot less fit on the screen. really ugly.
I restart my computer and still having this problem. Its only for RB, not other websites. Is there anyway for me to adjust this back?
