  Uniques Looking-for and willing-to-trade thread
Posted by: Havral - September 10th, 2005, 10:49 - Forum: Guild Wars - No Replies

http://www.guildwiki.org/guildwars/index...Items_List

Hey, there's some neat uniques available. So why not set up some sort of trading outpost for those of us who wants a certain set but can't ever seem to drop, or has a certain something they'd like to pass on.

Havral's current wishlist:

Grognar's Blade:
Slashing damage: 15-22 (req. 9 Swordsmanship)
Damage +15% (while in a stance)
Lengthens Crippled duration on foe
Swordsmanship +1 (20% chance using skills)

Tanzit's Defender:
Armor +16 (req. 9 Strength)
Quick recovery from Blind
Received damage -2 (while in a stance)
(Both strength shields are surprisingly good, but I find that blind gimps a warrior more than weakness)

Drago's Flat Bow:
Piercing damage: 15-28 (req. 9 Marksmanship)
Damage +15% (while Health is above 50%)
Armor penetration +10% (Chance: 10%)
Health +30

Somone tell me how it pans out, since it seems to be a WinXP-only system for a game that runs on everything since Win98.

  Sorrow's Furnace Update
Posted by: soul - September 2nd, 2005, 22:53 - Forum: Guild Wars - Replies (19)

For those who may not keep up to date with the GuildWars website:

This link explains they plan to modify skill prices, aswell as ease of gaining skill points, and suggests you spend whatever skill points you have before the update. (Apparently buying skills will become more expensive)

http://www.guildwars.com/news/gameupdates.html

A note on that, best to buy skills from Non-City areas, as every skill on the main city trainers is availble from a quest.
"Main Cities" would be:
Ascalon
Yak's Bend
Lion's Arch
Quarrel Falls
Henge of Denravi
Amnoon Oasis
Droknar's Forge

This link gives an idea of what else to expect in the Sorrow's Furnace update:

http://www.guildwars.com/products/sorrowsfurnace.html

Really want to see the new weapons. Here's hoping for shadow blades. =/
Of course, the rest of it sounds nice aswell.

Signing up for the Direct Song feature will apparently allow you to download the Sorrow's Furnace music for free.

All that said, anyone interested in setting up a group to go into Sorrows Furnace in the afternoon (or nighttime, or both) on the 7th?

Edit: Improved list of cities in which the trainers sell skills given in quests

  Hello? Is anybody here?
Posted by: d0om - August 26th, 2005, 04:48 - Forum: Master of Orion - Replies (4)

Hello! I have recently started playing MoO again, (I bought MoO2, but didn't like it as much as the origional)

I was wondering if the Imperium was still running? I have compleated the game on impossible with all bar the Mrrshan and Alkari. I never got the hang of their game play.

I would also be interested in any attempts to recreate a MoO game, I have been doing lots of C++ coding recently (but academic, so more calculations than graphics/interface). I noticed the FreeOrion project, but it seems much too design by committee and MoO2 based.

What would be good would be an online MMOG of MoO with realtime turns of 1 a day or so.

  So, Skill Changes
Posted by: Havral - August 26th, 2005, 03:06 - Forum: Guild Wars - Replies (11)

How did they shaft you?

In my case... One improvement in all, since I play my main far too often for my alts to develop any dependancies.

For my warrior side: Zip. No sword skill tweaks, and none of the three changes made to this class involves any skill I use.

Pets: Increased run speed by 20%; increased armour to 80 at level 20. Well, at least Bledri can tank a little now. I still would have like a change for Revive Animal (Which as it stands now is the worst resurrect skill ever) or better targetting for the pet attacks, otherwise very little else.

So I've managed to come through these rebalances relatively unscathed. Go me.

I'm half and half about the changes. Right now I just think they should remove exhaustion from Chain Lightning if they're weakening it. I suppose I'll have more opinions after they come into effect and I try them out.

I'll be sad if I can't play with a winter/conflageration combo though. cry

  Quick Question: Thirsty River
Posted by: Havral - August 24th, 2005, 15:09 - Forum: Guild Wars - No Replies

Has anyone ever had it so that when you enter the final area (Three teams and the king, baby), you wind up receiving the team elimination message as soon as the Ghostly Hero pops the gate open?

Heppened to me in a henchie group. I think it might have something to do with the fact that some of the bosses become Enchanted rather than Forgotten.

  Confusion re: Fissure of Woe
Posted by: Hawkmoon - August 24th, 2005, 08:29 - Forum: Guild Wars - Replies (5)

Hi everyone,

Okay, I know it's my fault because I don't play enough. I admit that up front.

Nonetheless, I am confused regarding progression in the game, and would like some advice. My warrior/monk, Hawkmoon of Realms, is currently at The Wilds mission-wise, but I've spent some time running around Kryta, and the last time I played I PuGed my way to the Temple of the Ages. I gathered from the chat that one gets to the Fissure of Woe by paying your profession's Champion a platinum piece. So my question is, should I be spending more time completing missions before coming back there? In other words, how does it fit into the storyline? Will I, at some future point, be transported back there anyway, or is it just a random eddy in the GW world? I dunno what the FoW is all about, story-wise. I haven't Ascended or anything (I still don't know what the heck that means, even), and I'm at level 16. So, advice, thoughts, insults? wink

Thanks,
Hawkmoon

  Grotto Photographs (large)
Posted by: ShadowHM - August 22nd, 2005, 16:06 - Forum: Off Topic - Replies (3)

Hi

I am back in the city for my annual excursion to the Canadian National Exhibition (aka The Ex) with the children. It will be a grueling 12 hour marathon - handy that it comes at the end of the summer when I have been practicing by hiking on the Bruce Trail.

I want to share some photographs from one of my favourite hikes. There is a grotto in the national park section at the north end that is a beautiful place. It features three means of access: climbing down a 30 foot cliff (eek), climbing down through a tunnel (rather easy) or swimming over into it from the swim area just to the south of it (also rather easy if you like to swim). The main feature of it is a tunnel that leads underwater back into the waters of Georgian Bay. I have tried for years to capture the lighting in that cave with my little automatic point'n'shoot camera, to no avail. However, this year, with my new camera, I was able to fool with the settings to get the 'real' look of the cave interior.

Hope you like the look as much as I do. smile

First up, the south end of the swimming area. As you can see, it is a rather popular spot, and deservedly so.

[Image: GrottoBeach.jpg][/url]

Finally, a photo that does the lighting in the cave justice. smile It is entirely possible to swim through that tunnel into the Bay. It is about six feet down right now and about 15 feet out to the open water. A snorkel and fins are recommended.
