  Need Player for PBEM63[Resolved]
Posted by: The Black Sword - January 24th, 2015, 15:40 - Forum: Civilization General Discussion - No Replies

Anyone(even potentially spoiled) want to save us poor souls in PBEM63?

Mackoti needs a sub as per this thread. I thought I'd make it a bit more visible.

You'd be playing Huayna Capac of the Vikings, we're just finished the boring early game(turn 48) and you're probably in a pretty good position after Mack being at the helm. You can check out his thread for more info, or we can send you on the save file to have a look before committing.

Take pity on us!

Foxhound: SOLO Lock-In Ironman victory with the Rogue!
Posted by: Foxhound-3857 - January 24th, 2015, 02:19 - Forum: Diablo - Replies (3)

After nearly 100 games of varying results over several years, I finally have another solo victory to add to my notebook. This victory was played with the Rogue using the Lock-In ruleset, and was done in sessions over the course of about three days, church one day, cats the next, and finally caves and hell this morning. There were several moments in the run where I was losing hope because of a lack of bows to work with, even though I had plenty of healing resources to my name, and 13 was a rough rumble all the way through, but eventually I carved my way a clear path to Diablo and brought the bastard down. Finally I have another win.

I'll make an official report on my victory tomorrow as I'm too tired to type it up now, but damn, feels good to know I can still win a game if I play well and don't give up.

And yes, I intend to continue this game into Nightmare.

WOOT!

  EitB Strategy Discussion/FAQ Thread
Posted by: Qgqqqqq - January 23rd, 2015, 05:39 - Forum: Erebus in the Balance Mod - Replies (25)

Over the past 6 months we've had a bit of an influx of new players. This is fantastic, and something I'd hoped resuming the development of EitB would do, and will continue to do so.

It has, however, led to a bit of tension in the setup threads, because of the differing meta of other sites clashing with the established meta of RB.

Thus, I thought this might be a more productive venue to discuss the general views on certain settings, strategies, and so on, to minimize the drama of those threads. It should also be able to serve as a general Q and A thread about strategies or changes to the mod, which would otherwise clutter the main threads, or if anyone has any possible rebalancing proposals that they're not sure enough on to bring up in the main thread.

Do remember, however, to spoil any references to, or discussion of ongoing games.

I'll look to post some stuff tomorrow, but basically just go for it. smile

Idea for a couple new premade wizards/portraits
Posted by: Thomasagray - January 22nd, 2015, 22:40 - Forum: Master of Magic - Replies (1)

I was thinking that there could be a mod that adds a couple new wizards each with a different look and spellbook and retort:

1. Ixarik: a female Klackon prophet with 3 picks in Death, 3 Picks in Chaos, 4 Picks in Nature, and Runemaster Retort.

2. Tohno: a Japanese samurai magician with 3 picks in Life, 3 Picks in Nature, 3 Picks in Chaos, and Famous Retort.

3. Nakkar: a minotaur shaman with 3 picks Chaos, 3 Picks Nature, 4 Picks Sorcery, and Node Mastery Retort.

  Reignition of PBEM 64
Posted by: Commodore - January 22nd, 2015, 15:11 - Forum: Civilization General Discussion - Replies (18)

Just, you know, play a game as it lies? With the cycle-sync meltdown of PB24 and the map hiatus of PBEM 64 we could call it either one, depending on the number of people. Rather than make some sort of effort-filled balance nightmare setup, settings:
Rolled Pangaea with fairish (novtool~300) distribution.
CTON (or AW if PBEM size and preferred)
Prince Difficulty
Normal Speed
Barbs on
Events, huts off
EP on
Two random combos given each player, pick one of them.
RBmod 2.7.0.4 or whatever is current.
Don't be a jerk.
Do play your turn regularly.
Don't melt down.
Do approach this as just game to play with some other dudes.

I'm not even against BtS with the usual ban set and someone normalizing combos via mix-match.

Sign ups:
-Commodore
-Wetbandit
-Yuri
-FlugAuto?
-Pindicator? Not sure if serious.

We have enough to reignite PBEM 64, looks like!

Master of Orion the SwanSong patch (1.40n)
Posted by: kyrub - January 22nd, 2015, 08:52 - Forum: Master of Orion - Replies (57)

Hi, it's been a long time.
Here is a small work from me for those few who still play or casually replay this game.

This is Master of Orion unofficial SwanSong patch, version 1.40n.

.zip   MooSwanSong140n.ZIP (Size: 199.71 KB / Downloads: 52)
Download SwanSong patch 1.40n

Attention!
You need to install 1.40m version first, than overwrite it with 1.40n.

The patch has moved from "bug-fixing" (see stickied "MoO unofficial patch" thread) to the more creative part, the AI part, that may not always follow the strict rules of the original game. Whenever I cross the line, I will inform about it. The game core mechanics, e.g. its fonctionnality and mechanics, won't be changed, however.

1.40n features
- [bug] AI does not DOW randomly, because its ally is in war with HP. Instead, AI now has a chance to DOW on any player, who is in war with its ally
- [bug] Militarist and Expansionist AI will use military advantage against opponents who have significantly smaller fleet, not vice-versa (against much bigger fleet). This bug was particulary harmful to early militarists, like Mrrshans or non-honourable Alkaris.
- AI to AI diplomacy has been corrected. AIs should exchange a lot more technologies, should correctly keep their alliances or NAPs.
- Active AI spying delayed to ease quicker start into campaign. Rational spending in spying. More incentive to steal technologies from opponents.

I hope it works, have not tested bang
