 Town Portal
Pick up those TP scrolls. You will have a use for it later.

Some obvious Town Portal uses:
- In case one of the players got dumped from the game.
- In case the team restart the game on the next section but one or more players don't have enough clvl to enter from town.
- To store extra items in town
- Easy access to Blood Pool, Purifying Springs and other useful shrines that you saved for later use.
- TP can be used as an optional reentry point in case of stair death, and as an escape route discussed in the "Tactics/Catacombs and Caves" section.

TPRes - Over my dead body
Scenario - You are trying to clear a roomful of archer skeletons and one of the teammates decides to do an impression of a dead porcupine in the midst of the horde.

Scenario - Your team’s ever-reliable scout doing such an impressive job has brought the team all the way down to lvl10. He takes a cautious step into the open and gets ambushed by Plaguewrath and his gang; died before the scream can escape his mouth.

Besides being one man short, your dead partner may be carrying an inventory of items the team needs - a Heal stick, potions or his HO spell, for example. These are desperate situations when there is no safe or potion efficient way to clear the room and resurrect your partner. What do you do?

You have been picking up those TP scrolls and everyone in the team has one or more, right? Great then, because you can resurrect your partner while his dead body is being molested by a mob of monsters and he will get out of the swarm without a scratch. Simply cast a Town Portal directly over his dead body and then cast Resurrection on him. He will be transported (load town) instantly to town, so fast he might not even see the Res-light.

If for some reason (you missed the target and it’s your last one, or the dead body is off screen) the TP cannot be cast directly on the body but very close, have your dead partner click and keep the button depressed on the TP before you Res him. For additional insurance, also hold down the # key of a Heal potion to get HP restored as soon as you are Res’ed. I'd suggest everyone to carry a Heal potion on the belt for such an occasion.

Using TP as an offensive spell
You read it right! TP is the most underrated offensive spell in Diablo. Ladies and gentlemen (fill in your own Oscar presentation blurb) I present you... TPKill. Hehe, why should TeleKill and TeleFlash get all the glory when TPKill is more tactically consequential? :p All kidding aside, Town Portal can really be used offensively.

TPKill - The easiest and safest way to kill the Butcher
Safety is the key here. Often, the Ironman party has to face the Butcher when they are clvl 3 to 4 and mostly naked. If the Butcher hit you even once, you are a goner. And, if the party have to face the Butcher via stair-up because the stair trap failed, well, you can imagine... Same goes with a normal grated-room trap; one cannot always gain enough distance from the Butcher to guarantee success, and therefore not advisable to have the party waiting in the room either - The Butcher will have enough fresh meat to open up a discounted meat market.

Find and clear a room with grates. Be careful not to kill any monster at this door else it would be blocked. The party, except one, goes in the room and closes the door. Cast a TP right in front of the grating. The remaining player lures the Butcher to outside of the room and escapes up to town via the TP; he then comes down a fresh TP cast inside of the room by his teammate. The mage and warrior can now help the rogue by using spare bows to make the kill faster.. If the grated room can be accessed from the back, the team can save one TP scroll by letting the bait walk back down the stairs, or just have him stay in town until the Butcher is dead.

TPKill part II - Hit and Run
The Hit and Run tactic works great for archer horde that won’t chase. There's just no safe way to get at them especially when they are at the back of a wide-open room. At best, the team can rush (being shot at while getting there) a couple of skels at a time before dying or forced to drink, then having to retreat through a long corridor while still being shot at. It’s too bad one cannot block while moving. What if you have unlimited TeleKill? Hehe, not exactly TeleKill, it's TPKill - a poor man's TeleKill.

Let the mage cast a TP as close to the horde as possible, strategically of course. The warrior and rogue can enter the TP and start killing then retreat using the TP. Heal each other in town. Rinse and repeat. Use two TPs close to each other (4-5 squares apart) for multiple entry and escape route if the team can afford it. This way, you can wade through the monsters toward the other TP without the risk being too far away from a safe exit. Recast TP when necessary to get closer to the remaining horde and remember not to enter your own portal from town. If the party goes into this room from the entry point, it will be exposed to all the archers. Place the TP at the corner as shown to minimize exposure - damage from arrows. The white X shows a bad example for an initial TP location, it will expose the party to all archer skels.

This tactic will also work with other monster mix as long as the party can handle a short term swarm situation by the existing monsters. Example - the team need to get around a lava stream, but there are range attackers on the other side the mage cannot deal with efficiently.
