Lurkers - that's my first pitboss on RB, and I'm not yet familiar with all RB stadards. I'm not planning to do so, but if you see me crossing the line, don't hesitate to let me know.
Greetings soldiers! I'll be offline for the next six weeks and so unable to continue my role in EITB34. Nothing has happened yet (T57) so an excellent chance to skip the slow early game. If you're interested, click the spoiler tag below. God willing, you will prevail, in peace and freedom from fear, and in true health, through the purity and essence of your natural fluids.
You are Kandros Fir of the Khazad. Ellimist of the Kuriotates is your only contact to the SW. Drama tech hits in 10T to complete the skeleton of an EitB economy (food, hammers, commerce, culture). Your competitors for the bard were the Kurios and the Luchuirp but AH & Mysticism for the former and Masonry (Gifts ofNanowhatever) for the latter make you the favourite. Adventure Sixty: Civ of Duty: Modern Warfare
Sponsor: Old Harry
Opening Date: Saturday, April 19, 2014
Duration: Six Weeks
Map Script: Torusland, heavily edited
Map Size: Small
Game Speed: Normal
Difficulty: Noble
Civilization: Persia
Leader: Cyrus
Opponents: 4
Victory: Any
Options: No City Razing, No Technology Trading, No Vassal States, No Random Events, No Espionage
Scenario: Modern war. We start in 1870 AD with technology on the verge of the modern era. Your goal is to conquer quickly.
Cyrus the Great, the year is 1870 and you have ruled Persia Charismatically and Imperialistically for many years of peace and prosperity. Now as your civilization enters a new golden age of technological advance your thoughts turn to power and glory. You've just had an unhappy love affair and to make yourself feel better you plan to make the greatest cities in the world kneel at your feet. We've all heard that modern warfare is a boring slog, but you know that's just something that people who aren't winning say, and you are a winner, the choices available to the modern general are quite fascinating and you will use them to crush your opponents. Your task is to capture and hold the capital city of each of your neighbours. You will gain kudos for the speed of each conquest.
Notes:
You start this scenario with Rifling, Flight, Assembly Line, Electricity and Combustion and a large overflow of beakers to use on your next technology. After that research will be slow, so choose your path carefully. Will you choose to go for Paratroopers, Marines, Bombers, Destroyers, Artillery or Gunships? Or is there another path that will be more useful?
You are in a golden age, so you may switch your civics for free initially.
Each of your target cities has a different flavour and reward, the order in which you capture them could be important:
Boudica
- Gergovia is surrounded by hills and the Celtic nation are expert Guerilla fighters, but you should make short work of them, right?
- This city contains the Three Gorges Dam and the Pentagon.
Mao
- Beijing seems to be surrounded by primitives - where did they all come from? Ouch, they keep biting my ankles...
- This city contains Mt Rushmore, Notre Dame, Broadway, Rock n Roll and Hollywood.
Tokugawa
- Tokyo is shut off from the rest of the world, Tokugawa has no need of human company, his modern armour give all the conversation he could desire.
- This city contains the Kremlin.
Justinian
- Your scientists have spotted canals in Byzantium, but is there intelligent life?
- This city contains the Cristo Redentor, Shwedagon Paya and the Pyramids.
Scoring:
Your four target cities are Tokyo, Constantinople, Gergovia, and Beijing. Upon capturing each of these cities, you score 1 point per turn remaining before turn 350, so for example one of these cities captured on turn 310 would score 40 points. You must hold the city until the scenario concludes to retain the points (if you capture a city multiple times after losing it, use the last capture date.) The scenario concludes on turn 350 or when you control all four enemy capitals, whichever is sooner. Game victory is not necessary.
Closing Day: Monday, June 2, 2014. Reports due by the end of Tuesday June 3, your local time.
