King of Dragon Pass: Magical Viking Simulator
Posted by: Enoch - November 7th, 2012, 16:59 - Forum: The Gaming Table - Replies (4)

What is King of Dragon Pass?

King of Dragon Pass is a game from 1999 with a very distinctive graphic style as well as a unique setting. Essentially you manage a clan of iron age technology people through the settling of a new land filled with other human tribes and other more exotic inhabitants. This is achieved through the core mechanic of events occurring with multiple options to resolve them, as well as more traditional clan management such as assigning farmers and forging trade agreements. Choosing the path of your ancestors and following the clan's traditions pays dividends, the designers specifically point out playing with a modern western viewpoint can land you in trouble.

That sounds a bit dry so let me try to explain it another way. KoDP is a game of the mundane and the fantastic, and the two blend effortlessly. For instance one day you could be sending out one of your leaders to improve relations with another clan:

The next you could be deciding on the marriage of one of the noble daughters of the clan:

This would be followed by your war chief becoming an avatar of his god and re-enacting the myth of how death first entered the world in the god plane in order to claim a powerful artefact:

And finally your year would be ended by a beastmen raid due to you oppressing the peaceful duck tribe (seriously don't mess with the ducks!):

Simply put KoDP is an obscure gem, which I think deserves to be better known. It used to be very hard to get hold of, you needed to send the developer twenty dollars and he would burn a cd for you smoke, but it can now be bought at Good old games for $6.

So does anyone here play it? Care to share the story of the day when a skeleton band turned up at your clan's tula, or the day a stegosaurus broke your cow pens?

Oh and would there be any interest in me setting up a tribe to run through some of the game and show it off a bit?

So, last week I was on vacation. To England and Scotland, which was my first time to Europe. Regarding Civilization, I guess the relevant picture is Stonehenge:

But the news for Realms Beyond is here. It turns out that the city where Krill lives was not far off one of our driving routes. So we met up for drinks and dinner. I can indeed report firsthand that Krill is not in fact a humourless automaton. He even graciously picked up the dinner for us American travelers.

So Krill, if you're ever in the New York area, I owe you a pint in return. shades

  Season 2: Final Ratings
Posted by: Speaker - November 6th, 2012, 11:39 - Forum: League of Legends - Replies (8)

Here are my final ratings from Season 2:

My top three champs ended up being Orianna, Skarner, and Cho'Gath, which I am very okay with. Orianna was my best solo queue character, Skarner was my best for Ranked 5s, and Cho was my best for Ranked 3s. It seemed very appropriate.

Would love to see how everyone else finished up. You can print the same image from lolking.net.

  2 chaos channels!

Sharee's hero had 2 chaos channels! Maybe it's because he also had Black Channels cast on him? You'll note that the second Chaos Channels adds wings, but he still has the foot icon for movement.

  FFH2 Adventure Worldbuilder Saves
Posted by: Qgqqqqq - November 5th, 2012, 00:08 - Forum: Civilization General Discussion - No Replies

I recently converted to Tholal's More Naval AI mod, which patches basic FFH2, rather then creating a new modmod.
Unfortunately, this means I am unable to play the excellent adventures hosted here.
Therefore I was wondering if someone would be able to:
1. Download the adventures
2. Go into worldbuilder
3. Save as a WB file
4. Upload the files

Thanks!

Hey, after the new forum was up, I created an user account Yell0w, then the old forum data was transfered.

Since then I'm unable to either log in to my Yell0w account with the PW from the old forum as well as the PW I used for the new registration.
My old PW doesn't fulfill the requirements of the new forum.

I can't reset my PW either. It won't accept my e-mail account.

I'd really like to get access to my old account back...

[Also: how can I request a thread made sticky?]
