Players and Contacts: - Sareln - (gmail) Sareln09
- TheHumanHydra / Sian
- Fintourist
- Azza
- Viqsi
Settings:
From Pindicator's post in the overall tech thread.
Map
Note: Let's keep the maps between the two games synchronized, so talk about that in the overall thread.- Snakey archipelago similar to pbem17 (but not duplicate of)
- Make naval strategy as important as land strategy
- Enough land that Astronomy is not the One Right Choice
- Land connection between all starting capitals? (I'm unsure on this but someone told me they prefer it)
Diplomacy (Need Votes/Comments: Fintourist, Viqsi, TheHumanHydra)
Other Bans & Settings (Need Votes/Comments: All)- Leader / Civ / Wonder bans to be determined by map maker. Map Maker needs to weigh the water-based civs & civics & wonders; would be nice for them to get a lot of input on this with the map thread.
- Map size - lots of land to expand to or relatively cramped? I think i would like land to expand, but capital's close enough that you can have early game wars.
- Difficulty - any strong opinions here? Prince is probably fine, maybe monarch if we don't have a toroid.
Draft leaders / civs from what is remaining
- No Nukes
- No War Elephants
- Spies? I think these get banned too
- No Huts
- No Events
- Played on BtS (no RBMod this game)
Anything else need banning?
Does anybody want to propose a different method for picking & restricting leaders/civs/wonders than the draft & mapmaker choice?
Also, what does everyone think about starting every civ with a scout? That way we don't have any early game losses do to lucky scouting but we still preserve the choice between warriors or workers to start.
Also, some of these settings don't have to be exact between vet & green games. But it may help to align it for simplicity.

It turns out my life is way busier than I had anticipated, and I'm going to have to bow out of Civ. I can still play in the short term, but I'm not going to be doing well.
Fun Facts:
1) You are playing a game against Seven, Mackoti, Novice, and Serdoa. Y'know, some of the scariest most skilled players out there.
2) I'm a pretty mediocre player already. You are probably going to lose this game. Don't let this discourage you!
3) I'll keep dedlurking you and give strategic advice if possible.

After the build up phase the first phase of war will begin...
PBEM XXIII has two missing players. One is Kyan who due to personal reasons can't play anymore, and leaves Arendel of the Ljosfaltar. As far as I know he just defended an attack from Mardoc quite handily and to me seems in a very good position.
The other Player is Bob Thessalonica of the Elohim, so far peacefully, leaves probably a good developed civ for you.
The interesting turns have just begun, this is the optimal time to join in!
XXIII has a map made by Commodore with 6 players playing. It's the first EitB PBEM with the v9 patch and new leaders were priority picks.
It features:
Amelia: Mahala of the Dovello
Mardoc: Averax of the Sheaim
Hiding Kneel: Volanna of the Svaltarfar
YOU: Thessalonica of the Elohim
YOU: Arendel of the Ljosfaltar
Yell0w: Shekinah of the Sidar
JOIN PBEM XXIII NOW!
Side effects may include: dry mouth, insomnia, sexual side effects, diarrhea, nausea, sleeplessness
