Divinity Roast - Mission Progression: Divinity Coast
Wyrm - 25 Jun 2007

"This is just wrong," said Arty.

"What is?" said Buffy

"They didn't even throw us a party or anything," said Arty. "Instead we get to be their delivery system."

"Try not to think about it too much," said Buffy.

The trip to Shaemoor was boring, but brief. The fighting was hardly worth the effort as there were only a few Mergoyles along the way. Upon arriving in the village, they were greeted by an old friend. Justicar Hablion awaited them in the courtyard.

"Oh look, it's Bablion," said Angela.

"Welcome to Shaemoor," said the Justicar. "Today, the Mantle has the most honorable mission for you..."

"Being a delivery boy is an honorable mission?" said Sanskirt.

"Just delivering a package? No. Ensuring the future of the Mantle, what more could you want?" said the Justicar.

"Whatever, let's get this done," said Sanskirt.

"Right, about that," said Hablion. "Before we can let you take the Eye you have to go purify yourselves at a sacred fountain nearby."

"Hey, you try keeping your feet clean without shoes," said Vex.

Hablion didn't respond, he only stood there like a statue; obviously this was something that wasn't negotiable. As they proceeded to the fountain in order to purify themselves, they began questioning their joining the Mantle, since everything seemed to be layers of secrets with them. They would stick it out for now though, since, as far as they could tell, the Mantle was doing the honorable thing.

"Defilers!" said a voice as they approached the fountain. When they located the owner of the voice, it was a priest that was in charge of guarding the shrine.

"Huh?" said Stargazer.

"How dare you come here and defile this sacred place with your heathenism!" said the priest.

"What do you mean?" said Arty.

"This is a sacred place and you would dare defile it by entering undressed?"

"Oh yeah, that. Well, it goes like this: we don't believe in armor."

"Then you have no right to enter here."

"Wait a second, we were told to come here by Hablion."

"Fine, but make sure your stay is brief," said the priest grudgingly.

Their stay was indeed brief, as they were in a hurry to get this mission over with. The less time they had to spend with the long-winded Mantle, the better. Once the "purification" was over, they made their way back to Hablion who, after yet another speech, gave them the Eye of Janthir, and sent them on their way.

"Oh, and if you find any Chosen along the way, be sure to bring them with you," said Hablion as they were walking away.

"Chosen?" said Angela.

"You'll know who they are by their reaction to the eye," said Hablion.

"Ok...," said Angela.

It wasn't long before they knew what he meant. As soon as a villager approached the Eye, or, more specifically, the eye approached a villager, the Eye emitted a pulse and the person was knocked on the ground.

"This could be fun," said Stargazer, and everyone agreed.

As they made their way to Loamhurst to deliver the Eye, they noticed a few more things about their cargo. First, there were a few villagers here and their that weren't knocked down by the Eye, and they could only assume these were the Chosen that Hablion was referring to so they brought those villagers with them to Loamhurst. Second, and more important as far as they were concerned, the Eye would knock down not only the villagers but monsters they came across as well. This made their journey even more fun and rather easy, and they decided that being in the Mantle definitely had its perks.

The trip to Loamhurst took a while, but eventually they managed to make it. They handed the Chosen off to a Lionguard and received some cash for it, which they gladly accepted, taking note that it was the Lionguard, and not the Mantle, that was rewarding them for their service. They then delivered the Eye to the Mantle, who had more speeches for them to listen to, but at least they were done for now and could rest.
